About the Author
Norman Percy Grubb was born August 2, 1895. After serving in World War I he went to Cambridge University and while there he joined a Bible study and prayer group called Cambridge InterCollegiate Christian Union and had his 'call' from God to join the mission field work of C.T. Studd in the Congo. As he was sharing his call with his fellow CICCU-ites the Lord gave Norman the vision to begin groups like theirs in other universities. Thus was born Inter-Varsity Fellowship (I.V.F.), also known as Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship (I.V.C.F), which today is worldwide. Norman married Pauline Studd in 1919 and they sailed for Africa to join her father, in his Heart of Africa Mission, which became the Worldwide Evangelization Crusade. There God brought him to a screeching halt. He writes in Once Caught, No Escape, his auto-biography, that shortly after arriving in the Congo he found he did not love the Africans. He also wondered if he was just giving them another code of ethics by which to live. In despair, the Holy Spirit gave Norman two Scriptures which redirected his entire life. I John 4:8 “God IS love”…not God has love that He would give him to use, but that He would BE love in Norman. Secondly, Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.” Norman saw it wasn’t his love; it wasn’t his life; it wasn’t his faith! Christianity was not a set of rules, but a Life – the living Christ as Norman Grubb…and every believer! In 1931 Norman and Pauline returned to England to lead the mission, Worldwide Evangelization Crusade until 1957 when he was called to head the work in the USA. Norman’s years with WEC took him all over the world where he had working relationships, as well as deep friendships, with countless Christian leaders in their churches and organizations. A few are – Billy Graham, T. Austin Sparks, Jesse Penn-Lewis, Hannah Hunnard and Corrie Ten Boom, In addition to many books, biographies and booklets Norman also wrote numerous forewords for other’s books…many of which can be found on www.normangrubb.com. Norman retired from W.E.C. in 1965 and spent the rest of his days – 25 years – traveling about the U.S. and England sharing his heart – the truths of Galatians 2:20 and Colossians 1:27. Norman was glorified at 98 on Dec 15, 1993. His last words with raised hands were, “Abba Father."

Does living the Christian life seem impossible to you. Have you felt like giving up lately being a “Christian”? Let me share the secret I learned from Norman Grubb....– it is IMPOSSIBLE to live the Christian life – ON YOUR OWN!
Norman had been asking God to make him a better servant. When God send him as a missionary to Africa, he felt he had a lack of love to love the natives he encountered in the mission fields. Furthermore, he felt he lacked the faith and power to serve God in Africa. He admitted there was much more profession than possession. He experienced more defeat then victory until God revealed the way to "Christian living". The Spirit revealed to Norman that Jesus did not say, "I have the life to give you" — but, "I am the life." Norman saw that the only reason for the existence of the entire creation is to contain the Creator!
The Christian’s secret to a consistent life is for Christ to live His life through us: “I have been crucified with Christ: and I myself no longer live, but Christ lives in me. And the REAL life I now have within this body is a result of my trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). Norman saw how God took ordinary men and women in the Bible and transformed them from a life of defeat to one that overcame. He shares this transformation in 'Journeys of Faith'.
'Journeys of Faith' is a witness account of the patriots of the Old Testament: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Joseph, David, Esther and Job to name a few. 'Journeys of Faith' is a book of the discovery of my own personal struggle and subsequent victory as experienced by each of the patriot in their own journeys of faith ...... until they discovered the revolutionary truth ...."Not God and .....BUT GOD ONLY!".
If you have ever questioned God and His actions in your life, this book will intrigue you...for you are certain to find new meaning in the One who "is upholding all things".
Norman Grubb used to say, “Don’t be a see-atter; be a see-througher!” He was talking about having single sight, or single-eye seeing. Single-eye seeing is simply seeing that God is purposely at work in everything, so that every negative event is perfectly purposed by God to bring about the positive which is the original intent of God. The negatives in your life is part of the path of God to take you upwards into real Christian living.
I was not born a Christian but found Him when I was searching for TRUTH. "Who am I? Why was I born? Does life have meaning? Is there a God? What happens after death?"
Than one day Truth revealed "Himself" in the form of Jesus Christ. However, after I became a Christian, it was a constant struggle. Although Jesus Christ had given me a "manual" - the Bible.....but I could not live up to the standards demanded in the Bible. For years I was a struggling to live the "Christian Life" until I found the revolutionary life changing secrets though the writings of Norman Grubb. It is no longer I but Christ living in me. Truth is Christ in Me!
Let me close by sharing revelation from just one of the patriots mentioned in 'Journeys of Faith' - Job
"What are we to learn from Job? That by one means or another God takes us along similar ways He took the patriots. By impact of the evil, the opposite, we come into a unified outlook which forces us into saying, "It isn't only the good from God; it is ALL from God.".
You cannot live the Christian life. The Christian’s secret to a consistent life is for Christ to live His life through us, Galatians 2:20.
Hope you too will find the book a blessing as I have.

Norman Grubb carefully explores the progress of faith in each person’s life, showing how Job, Joseph, and others grew in their faith toward God. He pointed out the different events that served as turning points in their progression of faith. But he amazingly weaves New Testament principles into each life event, making the truth come alive in relevance for us today.
This book was 432 pages long, although on my Kindle, it was considerably longer. This isn’t a quick read, but the content is meant to be slowly processed for our own spiritual growth. Yes, there were occasional parts where the author got a little long-winded, but considering these were transcripts of talks he gave, it’s understandable.
It’s not a difficult book. It’s quite conversational and understandable to the average reader (no theological jargon). I’d recommend it for anyone who wants a New Testament perspective on Old Testament heroes or for anyone who wants to begin to understand how spiritual growth works in our lives—some things never change.
