Like I said originally, it's a super cute book, and my train-obsessed five-year-old loves it. It's sort of comic-book format, with lots of great pictures and ideas for different ways to play with wooden trains within the story (there's also a more instruction-type section after the story).
ORIGINAL REVIEW: So, I really want to like this book. It's super cute, good pictures, very creative. BUT the pages are out of order. My first read through I was a little confused, but couldn't quite figure out why. Second pass I realized what was going on. At one point, one of the trains lands a jump before it takes off. Buddy the Elf's dad strikes again! Maybe they'll fix it on the second edition? Planning to contact the publisher, I'll update if I hear back.
The photographic illustrations are adorable. The text is playful, the rhymes snappy. At the back, “How to invent your own track tricks” shares a process for testing ideas, problem-solving, and recording. A great choice for young engineers!
