The Older Cat: Recognizing Decline & Extending Life Kindle Edition

3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars 5 ratings

While this book is about decline, it is not negative. It will help you to recognize the early signs of winding down so that you can take measures before much organ damage occurs. Those measures may be chemical, surgical, naturopathic, a change in environment or a combination of them. Thanks to careful health monitoring by guardians and advanced veterinary care, the lifespan of the housecat is increasing dramatically. Your veterinarian is your partner in maintaining your cat's health and increasing its longevity. You can help your partner by closely monitoring your cat's behavior and making a written record. Early detection is the best protection against disease. Death is inevitable but it can be postponed. You are the first line of defense in fighting feline health disorders. This book will alert you as to what to expect and aid you in making difficult decisions prior to, and after, death.

Anyone who shares his or her life with that peculiar bundle of purr and fur called a cat will benefit from reading this book. The author obviously cares and shares his insight, information and experience of feline aging issues with the reader. Important and heartfelt.

Material was well presented but I found much of it familiar. This may not be the case for everyone, so I do think it is worth a read if you are new to cats.

An excellent and clearly wirtten book on what to expect as your cat ages and how to care for a senior cat.
