I always enjoyed the movie O&C as i remembered when i was 7 years old when it first came out in theaters when i lived in Omaha and saw it 3 times and having the merchandise especially this soundtrack on cassette for years. The film never came out on video for 7 years and i waited then in 96 it came back and saw it at age 14 in theaters in it's re-issue, i bought the CD soundtrack to replace my cassette one.

This soundtrack's songs are totally 80's but that's good because i grew up in both the 80's and early 90's as a kid and these songs are just what the doctor ordered. It does have three excellent ones like the jazzy yet moody "Once Upon a Time in New York City" by Huey Lewis which sets the mood of the opening. There's the best one in the soundtrack known as "Why Should i Worry" by Billy Joel which has that upbeat hip edge to it that makes you sing along with it, Billy Joel also plays Dodger who is the coolest toon dog on film. We get another fun song called "Streets of Gold" sung by Ruth Pointer who plays Rita's singing voice and this version is an extended cut of the song which was not used in the film, it has a Prince and R&B beat to it that you can't match. "Perfect Isn't Easy" is a showcase style song sung by Bette Midler as she plays the spoiled pampered poodle Georgette singing her morning song, "Good Company" is a very sad song that reminds you of love the first time. "Buscano Gumbaya" is performed by Rueben Blades which is a very fun latino song that Tito dances to in the film is Latino jazz at it's finest and the rest is a terrific score especially the climatic chase scene which is awesome as it gives the mood for the film.

A recommended soundtrack for anyone who grew up with this movie and the 80's including animated movies.

Oliver & Company is one of the coolest modern-day Disney animated features, and with all the money that reportedly went into making this movie, I guess the producers didn't want a bunch a nobodys littering the soundtrack with kitschy songs that the people of 1988 would hate upon. Well, they certainly didn't. Contains the beautiful opening theme "Once Upon A Time In New York City" by Huey Lewis & The News, the upbeat, catchy "Why Should I Worry" by Billy Joel, and "Streets Of Gold" which is one of the best solo attempts ever by a Pointer Sister (Ruth, in this case).

This Soundtrack has some good songs on it, but especially "Why Should I Worry?", by Billy Joel, "Streets of Gold", by Ruth Pointer, and "Once Upon A Time In New York City" by Huey Lewis. It has some great songs on it, and I know a Disney Soundtrack isn't the hippest CD to buy, but when you got great material like this, how can you turn it down?

One of my favorite Disney movies. A great set of both musical and movies actors/actresses. It also has some great musical icons and songs as well.
