In my job, I travel to 3rd world countries for the US Government and I was tired of paying for expensive Samsonite luggage that still ended up getting tore up because 3rd world country air carriers beat up the luggage with methods of transport to move your luggage to the aircraft (unconventional forklifts or manual laborers who drag, throw, crunch, etc.) After I bought one of these Olympia American Airlines Skyhawk 26-inchers, and is still in outstanding condition after enduring over 10 round trips to Africa, I bought myself another one. For the price, it's unbelievable. And it spins in all directions and is lightweight!! Also in my domestic travel in the USA, folks have stopped me at the airport to ask me "where did I get my luggage?" (includes airline personnel, TSA and other travelers)
The color of the bag is definitely grey, and not black. This worked out well for me since I actually wanted a grey bag and chose black because the bag wasn't offered in grey. If you specifically want a black bag, this is something to consider. I am very happy with the color and style.
One last note: the 26-inch measurement is from the ground to the top of the bag including the wheels. The bag alone measures 24 inches. I was afraid that the 26-inch size might be too large and find that this 24-inch usable size is just right for me, but if you're looking for 26 inches of luggage space, you'll need to look at the larger size.
All in all, I found this to compare favorably with more expensive bags.
March 2014 - I came across this in my reviews and, since I have a few minutes, I'll provide an update. This bag made it back from Europe in one piece and it has survived other trips as well. I'm glad I made this purchase. The only criticism is minor, at least to me. If you pack your bag on your bed or piece of fabric furniture, the wheels may leave a black mark. Perhaps other pieces of luggage do this as well. Anyway, I generally throw a small towel under the wheels while it is on it's side just in case. I have not noticed it leaving any marks on flooring, including carpet as it rolls. So I stand by my five star rating.
In terms of using the case, its great going through airport terminals with smooth floors, but things become a bit more awkward when you move to paved/cobbled/textured roads. It also doesn't work well when pulling behind you at an angle like the traditional 2 wheel cases.
Size is great. Perfect for airlines with the 23kg/50lb limit - and if you choose to pay an extra fee and get a higher weight allowance e.g. 30kg, it accommodates perfectly. The case is also much more lightweight than my previous ones, and so lets take advantage of your allowance very well.
