Much better than no vise, not nearly as nice as a good vise but quite functional
Suggestions to the manufacturer is to make more holes in strategic places for a buyer to mount it better.
I would have liked the built-in steel peg to have been a better fit as it has a lot of looseness in the hole.
I would have liked the screw holes in the two tabs to have been better spaced for more strength.
The threads on the screw shaft are acceptable. I sprayed mine with silicon and worked it a few times, then wiped it and sprayed it again.
It works quite smoothly.
The two sliding guides on either side of the main screw were installed rather loosely, this wasn't really a problem at all. I just tightened them finger tight and they work smoothly.
For the price I paid, this vice was well worth the money. I would have given the product 5 stars but for one minor issue. There are two pre-drilled holes on the front and back plate to allow for installing wooden blocks that prevent damaging your work. The issue was with the placement of the pre drilled holes on the front plate, the holes were quite close to the raised edge in the middle, this made a tight fit for the head of the wood screws that I used. I put the screw in my drill press and filed down the size of the head, aside from that, it's a great little vice and I'm very happy with my purchase
It does not say this on the description but the box says you get a lifetime-no questions asked - warranty which is very cool.
There is no quick release mechanism but that's not that important for me.
Another drawback is the "dog for large metal pieces", it has this butterfly knob if you want to adjust it which is very poorly placed in such a way that obstructs the handle. I had to disassemble it because of that.
The greatest thing about this product however is that its very similar to the expensive ones but costs a ridicules 20 bucks.
Great value for your money.
If you`re an amateur, there is no reason to go for something else.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned: be careful if you "throw" the handle around to open/close it quickly. The nut can come loose, and both pieces come flying off. I kinda expected this, so I always stand off-axis when doing that, but it was still surprising the first time it happened. I haven't tried loctite, but I imagine it would keep this from happening.
