Buyer Beware: This is a Wood and Deck Cleaner, not a Wood or Deck Brightener. This is the same chemical used as the first step of a two step process. Typically you clean the deck with the foaming percarbonate solution and then follow this cleaning step with the brightening step which is oxalic acid. This second step will pH balance the cleaning step and will brighten up the slight darkening of the wood that is a natural part of the percarbonate cleaning step. Everyone else that I've checked sells Wood Brightener as oxalic acid, not percarbonate. This product is good at what it does, but it's label that says "Wood Brightener" is very misleading.

First, let me say that I saw a video on YouTube that showed a guy spraying something on a old, grayed, wooden fence and it immediately turned to a new fence tan color. From the reviews of this product here on Amazon as well as elsewhere, I thought that might have been this product. It has "oxy" in it name after all.

However, upon spraying it on my old, grayed fence, it foamed up slightly but really not much more. Don't get me wrong, it did help my pressure washer clean the fence, but not noticeably more than a (cheaper) 1:1 clorox bleach and water solution. I am slightly disappointed but will continue to search for the "magic" solution that requires no power washing. Please post if you have found it.

We used this product on our deck rails (cedar & fir) that was last stained several years ago. While it helped with the cleaning of the wood, it did not seem to brighten it, even after using a brush to scrub. We ended up finding a old container of penofin in the garage, which cleaned & brightened fantastically with no scrubbing.

I'm not sure if it was the company I bought it from or if it's normal but my bottle of brightener was very clumpy. I had difficulty getting it to dissolve. I had to scrub the deck twice to get the best results-the homeowners before us never sealed or cleaned the deck in 12 years.

The first attempt clogged my sprayer so bad that it took 2 hours to unclog it. The second attempt at dissolving was better but I mixed smaller batches. I used a hand scrubber and a scrub brush (on a handle) and saw excellent results. I even got compliments from the in laws!

It doesn't brighten as much as the description say but it does a great job cleaning. I will buy it again to clean the front porch and patio furniture. I would recommend it to anyone willing to put in a little elbow grease for good results.

Just as I expected, was just what I was looking for to clean my Trex deck. Not too strong like some.
