I originally had my doubts about this particular model, mainly due to the price. I can firmly say that upon receiving it, the camera is comparable to other entry-level cameras at a fraction of the price. Overall, here are the pros/cons:

+++ PROS +++

1) LOW COST
You will NOT find another digital camera that is even halfway decent for $50.

2) SIMPLE CONTROLS
The camera seems to cater to people who want minimal controls. Instead of having tons of different "modes" the camera reminds me more of a "point-and-shoot" from back in the day.

3) EASY TO LEARN
Due to the lack of options available, this camera is very easy to learn quickly.

4) DECENT RESOLUTION
For the money, the camera takes very good shots at a higher resolution than older models you can obtain for the same price. The auto-balancing works well and white balance/exposure are set for you.

---------------------

--- CONS ---

1) LACKS ADVANCED FUNCTIONALITY
If you're looking for a camera with different shooting modes (sports, night time, etc), this camera is not for you. It has very few options, and even fewer buttons. Think of it as a "no frills" quick point-and-shoot camera.

2) SMALL BATTERY
The battery is quite small, and using the mechanical zoom often will drain it somewhat quickly.

3) BATTERY MUST BE CHARGED INTERNALLY
My biggest complaint was that the battery needed to be charged inside the camera as opposed to more expensive models that come with a separate charger. I'm afraid that using the USB port so much (for power and exporting photos) will eventually cause it to break over time.

This camera is not a top of the line item but for the money it's absolutely great. Lots of options very clear pics, 16 MP means that even zoom shots come out crystal clear. I recommend it to anybody who wants a basic digital camera

Purchased this camera for my grand-daughter to take on family vacation. Fits comfortably in a child-size hand. Buttons are a bit of a challenge, but I'm sure will get used to it. Also, video playback does not have audio - but audio can be heard when video is played back on computer.

Had an Oly VG-110 and loved it until it went for a swim when I fell out of my kayak. Thanks to Amazon, this VG-160 is about the same with a little simpler controls and more MP and the same OLYMPUS quality. A little faster on the flash and same 'pocket size'; which I'm not going to carry it in when I'm out 'yakin' on the river. I got a plastic waterproof case for it for that.

Hard to beat this camera for the money. Everything is good so far, and pictures suite me fine (I use only the low-res mode).

There are a few disappointments that lead me to the 4-star rating:
1) The "shutter" button takes more pressure than necessary. I do a lot of one-handed shots, and this makes it difficult to control the camera and keep it from moving while the button makes it all the way down to "click".
2) I could only find super hi res mode, and low res mode - no in betweens. Not a big deal, but my last cheap camera had 3 or 4 resolution settings.
3) The menu system is a bit hard to navigate, but not horrible.

Again, overall I'm satisfied. No better bang for buck on the market. I just hope it holds up longer than my Canon did.

Not bad for a $50 point-and-shoot. It's surprisingly well built for its price point and has held up to everything I've thrown at it so far. The only reason I didn't rate this a 5 is because my major complaint is the battery life. 700+mAH is seriously not enough juice for whenever you want to take quite a few pictures.

The battery life may suck, but if you're not using it for extended periods of time and want to save some money then this is the camera for you.

Stylus was fairly easy to setup. I downloaded the manual which made it easier. Also downloaded Olympus viewer 3 for easy transfer of photos to my pc. Suggest quick start guide instructions include manual and Olympus viewer websites!!

This is worth 59 dollars, no more. Its good for a kid. Super lightweight. Turns on fast. Pictures are sharp. Colors are bland and flash pictures are only exposed properly in a narrow range of distances. Good for the money
