I bought this for my dad in August 2015 because he began a decline into the world of Alzheimer's. His memory was not the only issue, his temper was short and he just wasn't functioning well. My dad always had a positive frame of mind, but that mind was in a sharp decline. After being on 1 tsp daily (warm tea in the morning), a gradual shift began to occur. With every phone call, I noticed a difference in his attitude. What amazed me more than anything was his sharp recall of things he did as a child and when he worked as a Morris Code translator. He spoke of his father, his siblings, and friends he had in high school. My brother and mother both noticed his change. My mother said my dad is calm and speaks about things they used to do when they were younger. They are in their 80s. Life is good. This stuff is truly amazing.

militaris mycelium tastes like nothing more than oat flour

Generally, cordyceps militaris is meant to be supplemented as fruiting bodies, and as far as I know, essentially all CM research done is in regards to fruiting bodies or some form of extract with a comparatively high Cordycepin content. In regards to CS-4 strain cordyceps sinensis, the mycelium is what is used for supplementation and so taking a "mycelial biomass" of sorts would be fine, as this would be comparative to the what is used in the research done on CS-4.
But for cordyceps militaris, the fruiting bodies are what are desirable, since this is where virtually all of the cordycepin is concentrated and in turn -> the majority of the research has been done on cordycepin itself or high cordycepin content fruit bodies. This product has a low cordycepin content of .03%, whereas you can get around 0.3% with militaris fruiting bodies.

And these high cordycepin % fruit bodies are available at very low costs and in bulk quantities, except they have to be purchased from china. So far I have not come across any USA companies producing cordyceps fruiting bodies, and even Aloha Medicinals (supposedly the world's largest producer of cordyceps) provides only extremely low cordycepin content cordyceps. Companies selling militaris mycelium is likely due to profit gauging strategies, since it is much much cheaper to sell mycelium + a minuscule amount of fruiting body in comparison with just the dried fruit. Unfortunately, this mycelial biomass is extraneous and dilutes the potency of the mushroom significantly, and therefor is ultimately deceiving consumers who are expecting a potent mushroom supplement.

I would also like to add that this product tastes almost exactly like powdered oats (which is the substrate/food for this cordceps). The taste is good, but does not taste like a mushroom should. My pure cordyceps fruit bodies taste like an entirely different substance than this product, and this one is entirely lacking any mushroom taste or texture.

While i'm sure this product is healthy and has some small amounts of active compounds, it does not seem nearly as potent as some of the alternatives that can be purchased.

So easy to take and no bad taste

I got this for my husband who has cancer. We read Many good things so we are getting on the program for his health. I learned that when his white blood could goes down this can help to replenish it. So he is taking 6 grams every day. This is so easy to mix in a smoothe and does not have any bac taste at all. He was taking 12 pills but loves this in the smoothest. On the road to recovery. I just had to add 1 more thing about this. I got sick and my immune system was way low. I decided to take the amount my husband was taking 1 Tablespoon full in a smoothie. I got well much faster than usual. I was over my sickness in just 3 days. I will be taking 1 teaspoon full every day to keep up my immune system. I feel if you are not getting the results you are not taking enough.

Amazing results for brain health, but you do have to take it everyday and wait a couple of months. Focus, memory, concentration. Worth every penny and worth the wait! 100% organic. Powdered form. Single ingredient. What more could you want? Customer for life!!

How I take it: 1 teaspoon in 8-12 oz warm water, stir and let sit 5 minutes, enjoy. Mixing it in warm water increases the effectiveness.

I have tried the real thing and this product doesn't work very well at all, even when doubling the dosage. It isn't specified on the packaging how much is derived from mycelial biomass and how much is derived from the fruiting body. That is probably because most of it is derived from the mycelial biomass, meaning you get a bunch of ground up oats in the final product.
