I first bought New Life Spectrum food because it had garlic and garlic is good for fish. Garlic in NOT good for cats and mine drinks out of the aquarium when she can. I run a FilStar filter without charcoal with only filter media and Bio media because I like to keep things simple. The garlic smell of the New Life is terrible unless you like garlic smell. My house near the tank smelled like a pizza parlor or Chinese Buffet!
This is great food, I really like it and so do they. The loved the New Spectrum more than this but they are gobbling this up too. The pellets are a 3mm size which is great for 6" goldfish. The Tetra just got to be too small for them: it was like eating dust for them.
My pond goldfish and koi have no issues and love these the most to more expensive pond foods.
She grew up on Pro Gold, but since they went away, we've been searching for a good food with less fillers. Since she's such a pig, she eats a lot, so we also needed a reasonably price pellet. Omega One fits the bill.
While she would eat some of the other stuff we've tried, she wasn't as enthusiastic as she is with the Omega One. She gobbles them up like mad!!!
We haven't had any problems with this clouding the water, but we always soak our pellets a few before feeding them to her, and we only give her what she will eat right away and never let uneaten food sit at the bottom of a tank - they become dirty bombs.
This container is small enough that it made it an easy decision to give it a try. Like I said though, we'll be buying the larger pellets next time.
Like they do naturally in the wild..... Makes sense right?
Is there another fish pellet with all these ingredients, excluding the two fish species that goldfish shouldn't be eating.
I mean with a little extra effort you could crush up crickets and make that into a protein additive too right?
who thought oh! goldfish naturally just gobble up other giant species of fish, and added that instead.
Aside from that, it is the next best size up for my fish. Hell he looks to be enjoying it so oh well.
