Actually, I have about one inch too much litter in here. It requires very little. The last part of the video shows just how easy it is to roll it one way and roll it back. Pull the tray out and dump it. It is all that easy. That's my polydactyl Bengal `Bopper', by the way, watching me clean up after her.
1) Roll to the right.
2) Roll to the left.
3) Shake litter even.
4) Empty tray.
5) Pet kitty.
-Don't overfill with cat litter. When the box is rolled half way, all the litter should vanish leaving only dirty litter to fall in the drawer.
-the plastic clips are cheap, try a metal butterfly clip. I addes pics and the med size works on 3 sides, if you want to clip the right side it's got a thin edge I haven't tried other sizes but med clips won't work maybe small or large will.
- If you see clumps stuck in the bottom or on the grate, flip it on its head and bang where the clumps are stuck. 95 % of the time you knock dirty clumps lose. I take my 2 boxes apart and bleach them about 1x a year,
- I keep my box on a large tray ( fast food tray or I bought one at the 99 cents store) it makes it easier to slide it away from the wall when I clean the cat box.
Occasionally the litter spills out if the clips aren't attached so I opted to add bolts with butterfly nuts to the larger box, butterfly clips have worked just fine on my smaller size Omega cat box.
The way the grate installs could be snappier. it's a little bit awkward and doesn't, well, snap into place.
The tray for clumps could fit better. I mean it's not really a problem but the gaps around the opening, uh, make my design sensibilities twitch? I dunno. It's clunky.
I wouldn't be offended by a replaceable odor-absorbing pad that slides into the top. Not that i have had much of an issue with odor in the, uh, 6 days i have been using it.
I don't have a lot of other advanced litter box experience. I mean, 20 years ago my mother bought one of the very early motorized automatic cleaning litter boxes, and it was terrible. But that could have been due to the litter she was using, and 20 years ago i'm sure clumping litter wasn't what it is today. Certainly, back then, I had never heard of the blue buffalo walnut shell based stuff that i am using,
I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. If i buy a 2nd litter box, it'll be another of the same.
The internal grill broke one one box a few days ago. The other box broke and was replaced the day it arrived so they are too flimsy. We have multiple cats and the pee on top of other clumps which are nasty to remove (cleaned AT LEAST DAILY). It also sticks to the grill sometimes if they pee against it. If the screen were sturdier it would get a higher review. One is now just a normal box with no lid after 4 months.
We've purchased 2 of these for different room and just love them. In 3 months we haven't had to clean these litter boxes or replace any litter. Rotating the litter daily seems to keep the litter fresh and the cats prefer these boxes.
I HIGHLY recommend using duct tape to seal the top and bottom and prevent litter from escaping between the halves. It is a little harder to figure out how much litter to keep it in, but you can use a sharpie to mark the inside or just watch how much goes into the grill area so you know when it's full.
