Editorial Reviews

Review

"...Sandlin turns in another fast-paced outing with the third book in the Penton Legacy saga. Readers who have followed the saga from the beginning will be delighted to note that Will Ludlam finally takes center stage here. This series continues to ratchet up the drama and this reader hopes that Hollywood will take notice: Penton vampires do not sparkle or kill randomly; these are romances for adult audiences." —RT Book Reviews Top Pick, 4.5 stars (HOT)

"The third Penton Vampire Legacy (see Redemption and Absolution) is an exciting romantic urban fantasy ... With a deep look inside the heads of the key players during the Omega crisis without crimping the action, sub-genre fans will relish Susannah Sandlin super vampire mythos." —Midwest Book Review

Omega is book 3 in the Penton Vampire Legacy. I could not put this book down! The Penton Vampire Legacy series deserves a seat right next to the Blackdagger Brotherhood, Midnight Breeds, Darkhunters, and Darkyn's. It is a vampire series that grabs you by the throat!

Omega is William Lludlam and Randa Thomas's book. The Penton community has been put to the final test and it's full out survival from their enemies. Mathias Lludlam is on a vendetta to destroy Penton and anything associated with the Penton community . He has convinced the vampire Tribuanal to back him for the crimes the Penton leaders have committed against the vampire world. In reality it is Mathias crimes that have forced the Penton leaders to commit in order to protect their world.

This book is packed full of action, pyschological combat, strong & sexy vampires, kickass humans, and red hot romance.

I highly recommend the series!

Recap:

Will Omega save the vampires and humans of Penton, or be a death trap?

In Absolution (The Penton Vampire Legacy), the peaceful vampire-human community of Penton was attacked by Matthias Ludlum, its corrupt Vampire Tribunal enemy. The town had retreated to its underground bunker, Omega. Ironically, Omega was designed by Matthias's son, Will Ludlum. Will is faithful to the leader of Penton's "scathe," and is one of his lieutenants. Will's patrol partner is Randa Thomas, a former US Army officer. Wise-cracking Will and by-the-book Randa often butt heads.

Matthias wants his son back and the Penton scathe destroyed. He'll stop at nothing to get what he wants. Can Will and Randa overcome their differences to save the scathe from Matthias? Or will their secret desire for each other make them--and the scathe--more vulnerable?

Analysis:

"...his eyes turn this beautiful shade of amber.

Will Ludlum is a sexy, charismatic character with a tortured past who hides behind wise-cracks and his reputation as a prolific lover. But underneath that facade there is a genius who is honorable and self-sacrificing. He has many dark secrets from his past, which drove him to become the self-made vampire he is today.

"She grew up a soldier, having to prove herself. But she hadn't thought about having to do it forever..."

Randa Thomas is also driven by her past. She's the only daughter of a strict, dedicated Army officer father. As a result, she grew up competing with her brothers in order to earn his affection. She's kick-butt, but it has cost her emotionally.

If you like a strong story line and believable vampires, you'll love Omega.

Susannah Sandlin is a master at skewering stereotypes. The world she creates in this series is unlike the 'normal' angsty vampire existence in the shadows. Even living underground, the vamps and the humans are in this together. Because of this, the ending feels totally believable, even inevitable.

Will and Randa are entertaining, complex people who have the hotness factor going strong. Oops, in a typo, I put the 'hotmess' factor, and that's true too! And Cage, well let's just say that Cage nearly steals the show. I can't wait for his book!

Even though the novels were originally planned as a trilogy, and Omega does complete the story line nicely, I hope the new Omega Force becomes an ongoing series. Please, please, please!

Do yourself a favor and buy all three books, and settle down for a weekend of vampire immersion fun!

Omega occurs as the Tribunal has decided to disband the community of Penton. With lives and freedom on the line, everyone is tense and on the edge. Will is spotlighted in this series and his sharp wit and teasing nature are on vivid display. This story progresses and the action builds with a tension that is palpable, demanding that you read on. As this series has progressed, more of the background information for all of the characters and the hesitancy about the Tribunal becomes clearer, and urges you to root for the survival of Penton and the people (vampire and human) that it shelters. I read all three of the books in this series in one sitting, and am desperate to read book four. With a writing style that exceeded all of my expectations, Susannah Sandlin has created one of the best vampire series that I have read to date.

I received an eBook copy from the author for purpose of honest review for the BTS eMagazine. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I had a hard time really getting into this book. Even though we had gotten to know Will in the first 2 books, I had a hard time connecting with either him or Randa, the female lead. The book seemed to drag on with bit much happening until about 2/3 of the way through. Then it picked up speed and intensity. After that, the book was great! The ending is such that an entire new direction is being started for the Penton crew. This book seemed to be one to tie up loose ends and finish what Aiden had started in book 1. All in all, I found the book a good read. Not great, but good.
