At first I was a little bothered that Sam was so eager to have sex with Rusty considering they just met and Sam was .... uh... inexperienced but, then I started thinking about all the books I’ve read where complete strangers had sex an hour after meeting and those stories didn’t bother me.
I liked the characters and the storyline was mostly well written (a few odd things here and there). The sex was hot and I am really looking forward to reading the other books in the series.
POV... third person
Standalone or series .... first book in a series
Did it give me a hangover... slight
Would I recommend it... yes
Would I read it again... probably
Secondly, this is amazing. I love the instant connection that forms, and I love the chemistry between the characters. Things move pretty fast but they're right there on the same page, and delighted about it, and it's marvelous. I'm pretty psyched to see more in this series--the story comes to a good stopping point, no cliffhangers, but it's clear there's more to be said, and I want to hear it!
Can't do much of a character breakdown but Sam was smart and unexpectedly overprotective. Not like any omega I've read about. Rusty was all alpha with all the characteristics of one. Weirdest thing in the book was how much more wolf they were than in other shifters and the way they are made. Which is what has my attention completely so I still say read it and form your own opinion.
- Enjoy hot gay werewolf romance?
- Like gruff alpha dudes with hearts of mush and the adorable nerds they love?
- Think consent is sexy?
If so, check out this book! The sexy times are hot and plenteous, the characters are lovable, the plot makes sense, and the protagonists are capable of expressing feelings like functional adults! Dessa Lux observes the time-honored werewolf romance tradition of a mating heat, but with the refreshing twist of explicit consent and emotional maturity. And did I mention the sex? Because it is smokin'.
Quality read, recommended.
I would recommend reading up on alpha/omega dynamics in gay porn fiction before diving in there, since it really clears up some of the details, but you can enjoy the book with no background info at all. The author is great at getting ideas across in a very concise, straight-forward way.
Looking forward to the sequel!
