Here is a quote from the book, “Are you sure you’re the right person to be teaching me all this? I asked, because I was a fool with no verbal filter. “You end up in the scandal rags like every week.” To my surprise, he grinned. The trouble with Gabriel was that he was ordinarily a very good looking alpha. His excellent bone structure, his golden hair, his dark blue eyes, they all added up to an extremely attractive specimen. But when he smiled…he looked extraordinary. He looked like he’d been put on earth to burn all the common sense out of me with one look.”. There is more but you will need to read the book. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
Actually, it was not a sexual tryst, but simply a good deed by a poor, young bartender who couldn't leave him in the street in that condition, so he took him home to sleep off his drunkenness. However, the Queen knew no one was going to believe this, so she went into full damage control mode. She found the young bartender (Noah), brought him to the palace, and offered him an exhorbitant sum to pretend to be the prince's fiance for six months, to try to salvage Gabriel's reputation. But Gabriel and Noah end up falling in love for real. We get to see how their relationship develops, slowly, and Gabriel changes from a playboy to a man in love, and very protective of his mate. Then they have to contend with jealousies, treason, and intrigue within the palace, as well as the continuous onslaught of camera flashes and microphones in their faces, but in the end, the get their HEA.
I'm always a fan of the whole "pretend engagement/boyfriend/etc - whoops, now I want it to be real!" trope, so this was sweet and fun to read. I liked the story, although I do think sometimes I could have used more details and a bit...more? Like, I'm interested in this dealing royalty, but is this like set in a world like ours but not? Because I felt like this was set in the US, not Europe. Or what?
I do think this was a sweet, short read and I would read another story in this series, for sure.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Hopefully we'll get Lucas' story, I would love to see what happens with him and he deserves his own HEA!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
These two have to figure out who is after them, and why. Also, will the engagement end after 6 months, or will they be planning a royal wedding?
Read to find out!
I enjoyed this, it was entertaining and I was invested in what was happening.
This was my first time reading this author and the book showed a growing of affection between them, not fast paced. More realistic.
The story to me had a little fairy tale feel to it. The story had a nice pace, the characters were likable. I thought the story was well written, and kept my interest till the end.
I thought Gabriel and Noah had great chemistry. Love stories that start off as a fake relationship and turns to real love.
Love the story and hope to read more from the author.
Thank you for sharing your book with us.
