The challenge is with the story. You don't really know anything about your MC's other than that they are hot, they smell good, and they are millionaire's (alpha is a self made guy, omega is heir to a fortune type). They spend most of their time in their home - together (mostly having sex). No one visits. EVER. They don't go anywhere. NEARLY EVER. There is no conflict at all of any type in the story. They don't fight, argue or otherwise have challenges. Based on the blurb I thought I'd be in for some "bucking against the alpha authority" on the part of the omega but, alas, no. They seem like nice guys - VERY nice guys. No flaws really. If there are they are explained away.
NOTHING HAPPENS in the story. Nothing. I mean nothing. They get pregnant and have a baby. The problem is without any drama at all its boring. They don't leave their house, they mostly talk, have sex, talk a bit, have sex, lather/rinse/repeat. The alphas family issue are the single point of any sort of drama here - and they are explained away in two pages and that's it. Never heard from again.
There are all sorts of opportunities for the author to add a bit of tension or drama and not a single one is realized. The alphas family. The Omega charity thing. Nada. Zilch. Even when a work thing happens for the alpha he goes off to fix it and the next chapter is weeks later. When a security issue happens at the house it's tense for 2 minutes - and then its done. It is only there to demonstrate the alpha's protectiveness. Then next chapter weeks later. I mean seriously. Nothing. I mean literally nothing happens. That makes it repetitive. There isn't really a plot - it's more slice of life.
I like the guys, but I didn't care what happened after a while because nothing remarkable was happening. Yes Lane gets pregnant (not a spoiler -- reference kid on cover) and there is the pregnancy but he NEVER GOES ANYWHERE or DOES ANYTHING - it's all only referenced in talking. I'm not sure after he got pregnant he ever left the house other than to go to the Dr. and to a single event for a person. Though there is a reference to him going to college later - you never see it. I don't think he interacted with anyone other than the security guys at all other than at the parties - he appears friendless. The alpha appears to have one friend, an omega, Rowan. Yet we get zero story on the guy. I feel like he will get his own story but nothing here made me curious to read it.
I guess if you are in the mood for perfect millionaire MC's who hang out at their beautiful mansion, have no problems, and don't go anywhere - only stay home and have sex - this might be your book.
Gareth is a successful alpha waiting for the right time to claim his omega. He has known for a while that Lane was his, now the time has come to show Lane who should be the Omega's Alpha. Their bond is strong, will that last when an unplanned baby derails the plans further?
Lane and Gareth are loveable characters with a sweet and sexy love Story. Definitely a recommended book.
