The Mastiff series offers cyclists and power sports enthusiasts more high security options in a lighter, more compact package. 10mm hex-link chains and square section bar links resist attack from saws and cutters. Quattro and dual lock mechanisms feature dual lock down protection and 4 laser-cut plus 1 TorchKey. The chain ends need to be locked together in order to remove the key which is sometimes a hassle when I get my bike loaded up to leave home and realize I forgot something inside my house. Then I have to lock the chain ends together, remove the key since it is on my ring with my house key, and then enter my house. So I first have to fiddle with the key to get it out so I can get back in my house, then I have to jiggle the key for a while to open the lock when I want to lock up my bike after parking it. Then I have to spend more time trying to extract the key after locking the chain on my bike. So the key difficulties mean a lost star for this review, I don't know if other people have a problem with their keys sticking.
The other thing that is annoying about this key is that its light (which is a sweet feature) is sometimes difficult to shut off. Sometimes I can see it glowing in the dark and realize it must have been like that since I came in hours ago. I have no idea how long the light will last at this rate. I have had this chain for a year so far.
Although I haven't run into the point where someone has in fact attempted to steal my bike yet thankfully, I went ahead and did a little stress test on it with a few pairs of bolt cutters and man is this thing strong, so strong to the point where it broke my walmart bolt cutters.
This thing is just such a beast and if u want security go with this, it's honestly a bang for your buck in the scheme of things and it will truly be helpful in the long run.
If you really are undecided about the price, just think 60-100$ depending on the size of the lock > 500$ + if your bike gets stolen.
The lock has great "action" The key always turns smoothly and freely. Plus, they give you way more keys than expected, so you can have spares everywhere, house, car, work, friends, etc.
