Review

"The sensual romance between these likable protagonists, the focus on family, and ample rolls in the hay make for an entertaining [listen] for your contemporary set." ---Library Journal

Book Description

Thanks to her father running off with a twenty-year-old, though, Lily’s back in her home town to pick up the pieces. First: meet with her brother’s teacher in a quest to pull up his grades.
Nathan looks up from his desk to see all-grown-up Lily walking into his classroom. She was the only one who felt right. At least until his immature mistake drove her away.
Lily has no room in her life for a man who broke her heart before. But with a little help from his friends, Nathan plans to rekindle the flame.

I am a huge fan of the Chase brothers so it was great to keep reading about the town of Petal. I really liked Lilly's story with her family and trying to help her brother finish school. It took up most of the book. There was not a lot about Nathan except that he messed up with Lilly years ago. It barely told parts of his childhood, if it wasn't for the fact that I read all the Chase books I wouldn't know anything about him. It seemed every scene he was in was just about him trying to get Lilly and what she does to him, as to where Lilly's character was really emotional with family, friends and the past. It seemed a little one sided. But it was great to hear about where all the Chase brother were in life. You kinda had to guess how many years later it was. I would recommend to read this book but if you haven't read the Chase brothers reading them first will give you more background, plus they are great books.

I hope the other Petal Georgia books will be better. This wasn't Ms. Dane's best book. It didn't have all the characters we love from the Chase series. It really didn't have the whole town aspect either. The main characters were kinda..blah. Basically she comes home from a long absence to take care of her younger brother, he is a teacher at her younger brother's school. They used to date a long long long time ago in college, he screwed up, she dumped him. Now he wants her back..steamy sex ensues, and ta-da! HEA for them.

I was excited when I saw this because Lauren Dane is always on my MUST have auto purchase list. I normally give her books 5 stars.
I loved the Chase brothers and was excited about this book.
DO NOT try this if you have not read the previous books, it will be character overload trying to keep up.
I liked Lily but I never felt like her character was fully developed, it was like there was too much going on due to the other people in the book and catching up with them and we never fully got her story. The end was abrupt, and I was a bit disapointed.
It was great catching up with everyone, however it almost felt like this book was trying to do so many things that it didn't really focus on the love interest. There was story groundwork for them and then her family problems (which were too numerous to list) then there was all the 4 couples from previous stories, plus people that were ancillary to those stories, and it just felt like there was too much to put in too short a story. I had been so excited when I saw 385 pages, and then had it end approx 30 pages short of that for previews for other books - GRRRRRRR hate that pet peeve.

I would purchase this book if you loved the Chase Bros, but would probably not read as stand alone or if you are not interested in following them. There was not a lot of detail with them, but you know how many kids Matt had, that is about it.

The story had lots of potential, but I just did not feel it got anywhere in particular.

Great stand-alone romance series. Easy to follow with realistic storylines. No drag-you-down drama. Believable characters with distinct personalities. Entertaining, sometimes snarky, informative and thought-provoking dialogue.

I will continue to re-read these series and always look forward to other works by this author.

A great start to a new series from Lauren Dane. Technically since this is a new series you don’t need to read her Chase Brothers series before you start here but with all of the cross over characters you would enjoy this so much more if you go back and catch up. What I love about Ms. Dane’s books, especially this series, is that she’s got a great combination of sweet and sexy in her stories. Lily Travis never expected that life would bring her back to her home town of Petal but when her parents’ divorce and her younger brother starts to get in to trouble at school she knows that she needs to be with her family. Family issues are hard enough but finding your ex and realizing he’s just as sexy as ever makes this a hard homecoming for Lily. Nathan knows he messed up the first time with Lily and is not ready to let her go this time around. Convincing her takes a little bit of work but Nathan knows that she’s worth it. A really great rekindling story set in a fun town that I love to visit every time Ms. Dane takes us back there. Great start to a new series!

This is a spinoff of the Chase Brothers series. It's about Nathan Murphy and Lily. Nathan, of course, is the brother to Tate Murphy. If you haven't read the Chase Brothers, I suggest you do. You don't need to read that series to read this book, but I think it reads smoother if you do. I love Lily and I think she's such a great character. She's sexy, independent, smart, loving, family oriented, caring, and she keeps her family together. I also loved Nathan. I think he had a lot to make up for and it was really sweet how he did that. I loved that we got a lot of Chases in the story too. Petal GA is a great place and a great new series.

I loved it. This title is part of the Petals, GA series which is also part of the Chase Brothers series. Checked in with all previous characters which I LOVE and why I love to read series books. This particular story was a really good one. Lily is a strong female heroine who comes home to take care of her younger brother. Nathan the hero hurt her deeply when they were in college and now he wants to redeem himself and win her back. I don't want to tell you too much of the story so I will leave it at this. Great read.
