The lack of emotional connection to the characters that I felt in (Never) Again wasn’t an issue in (Once) Again. I was already half in love with Josh after the first book and each bit of his story that was unfolded just made me love him more. It was impossible not to love Kat. She was smart, sympathetic and sweet. She was amazingly driven and didn’t need anyone’s help to deal with the rough things she was handling. (Or, you know, so she thought.)
In this book, Josh is dealing with the aftermath of the school shooting and his injuries, feelings of guilt, and the nightmares that just won’t go away. His physical limitations are just part of the problem, but they’re what lead his ex, Kat, back into his life, proving something good can come out of a tragedy. Their breakup was far from amicable and they’ve been completely absent from each others lives since. He learns that he’s not the only one dealing with loss and pain and they slowly start to rebuild what they had before their misunderstanding.
I’ve said it a thousand times and I’ll say it once again; I love a second chance story. The second chance Kat and Josh get is at more than just love, though. Together they work to overcome both their demons. It was easy to empathize with these two and to root for them to heal themselves and find the love they thought they lost again.Read more ›
(Once) Again is following (Never) Again although it can be read as a stand alone. I do recommend you read (Never) Again first.
(Once) Again is Josh and Kat's story. Josh just survived a real terrifying event and has to learn to deal with it. While is ex girlfriend Kat is sent back into his life. They were once in love, but 2 years later, how will they deal with the past. Especially if the past comes back to haunt you.
I loved this book so much. Josh and Kat both are two amazing lead characters. I especially loved Liz and Zach (From (Never) Again) making their way into this story. I was drawn in from the first page, eager to see how things would play out. A few twists and surprises left me wanting so mich more.
I really enjoyed Josh's friend Eli. Although he had a short part, he was a great character who I think has a great story to tell.
Theresa Paolo is one of my favorite authors, and I am so mad that I took so long to read this amazing book. 5 star read for sure.
So here is the thing by prolonging reading (Once) Again I was only delaying reading one of the best stories ever!!!! It took me a long time to fall in love with Josh and Kat... about half way through though I was like holy crap I love them so much!
I couldn't connect with Josh, Kat or the humongous wall built between them. Theresa Paolo must have had a huge sledge slammer because once she knocked down that wall my fingers couldn't turn the pages fast enough! I found myself rooting for their romance. There were twists that I should have seen but we're strategically subtle and when finally were brought out in the open I was slapping my head saying "How did I not see that???" The story lived up to its predecessor, and stood completely on its own. Josh and Kat were not only beautiful together, but beautifully written as well.
It's a great read and I highly recommend it to all!! Thank you Theresa for sharing Kat and Josh's story with the world. I loved it!!!!
