This is a great new take on vampires and werewolves and things that go bump in the night. I love that this is a new premise to these supernatural creatures. Vampires are really demons inhabiting dead bodies. Werewolves are really dead people in purgatory.
Remi is grieving for her dead husband, killed by a vampire. The author did a great job of bringing Remi’s feeling to the surface. Remi was very altruistic. She would do everything she could to keep others from going through what she went through when her husband was killed. I loved all the members of the Amasai. I felt a bit of tension between Remi and 3 male characters. She had a fling with Casey, turned out he wanted more even though they agreed to just take it day by day. Then there’s Alex, a werewolf that Remi has hero worship for. He saved her when her husband was killed, and she thought she felt something for him. Finally you have Gabriel, Remi’s partner. It was never expressed, but I thought he may have had a little thing for Remi and was just biding his time.
I did find this to be more of a paranormal read than paranormal romance. There was some romance, but not a lot. Mostly it was just adventure, action, and paranormal. Overall, this was a great story that was easy to read and fast paced.

This book is a good supernatural trip. I loved the battles and the interactions the good guys had between the bad guys.
The relationships were warm and fuzzy within the Amasai.
The family quality of the Amasai were genuine and comforting .
The ending of the book set you up for more. I would recommend this book to all who like the supernatural.
