Sarah Meadows, has always helped her twin sister,Taylor, out when she's in a mess. This time Taylor needs Sarah to impersonation her at Camp Firefly Falls for one week at staff orientation. Unfortunately Sarah did not count on handsome Beckett Hayes, former Park Ranger, nor that rock climbing would be on the menu.
Beckett realizes almost immediately, something is off with Sarah. Confessing who she is, Beckett, takes her under his wing and trains Sarah. But more than training's on both their minds. My romance review book review of Once Upon A Campfire follows.
CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:
Nolan created a contemporary romantic novella in Once Upon A Campfire. Nolan calls this series "meet cute romance". As stated by Nolan: ""Meet cute is a term used to describe a situation in which a future romantic couple meets for the first time. Meet Cute Romance is a series of contemporary romantic shorts celebrating the possibilities of that first meeting."
Bookish over educated Sarah and out spoken Beckett hit it off from the start. Beckett gives Sarah a different perspective to her long and continuing education. Both are strong, competitive, independent, people perfect for each other. Nolan highlighted the twin bond, as well as, the bond of sisters, I loved Sarah's character. As she resolved issues, came to see her life in a different light, and faced love over education, I cheered her on. I was also glad to see Taylor step up.
I found the pace of the novella in line with the length of the story as Nolan wove her plots lines and brought them all together in a successive conclusion to the story. The love scene were tasteful and did not contain erotica, graphic or explicit sex. A quick read, I found this novella perfect for a night curled up in your favorite chair.
ONCE UPON A CAMPFIRE RECOMMENDATION: STARS 4
FINALLY, PLEASE NOTE:
In addition, I purchased this book and chose to voluntarily review this book with honest romance book reviews of Once Upon A Campfire.
Beck is swoon worthy. *sigh* He was all man without being an egotistical macho man. He was passionate about his job, he wanted everyone to succeed, he wasn't intimidated by a smart woman..the list goes on. Sarah was intelligent, capable, and not intimidated by a strong, smart man. They made an ideal couple.
I can empathize with the dilemma Sarah faced. It can be scary to take a leap of faith and leave behind what you know for the unknown. I am glad love won.
Definitely read Once Upon A Campfire. It is a terrific story and part of the delightful Camp Firefly Falls Series.
