Reviewing books I love is often much more difficult than reviewing books that are just OK; Once Upon A Time is one of those books. I've been reading Blair Babylon's books for about four years but it seems like just yesterday. She writes compelling stories with characters that have complicated lives. I don't just read her books, I become immersed in the world she has created for her characters.
Her Billionaires in Disguise (BID) and Rock Stars in Disguise (RSID) series of books are all connected but they are also written so each series can be read as standalone stories. Even if you haven't read any of the other series (but I implore you to read them!) you will still be able to enjoy Flicka's series because of the background information that Blair puts in the story. And the thing about that background information is that it's written in such a way that it doesn't seem redundant if you are a fan and have read all of the other books, like I have.
Because I'm a reader who generally hates cliffhangers, I feel I must disclose that this is the first in what will be a series of 3 or 4 books, and you will definitely be left wanting more after reading it. But there's something other than the wonderful writing that keeps me reading Blair's books – even with cliffhangers – she has never yet failed to complete a series and she releases the books fairly close together so you aren't kept waiting forever for the next one (book 2 of this series is coming in a month). She also hasn't taken one book and chopped it up into multiple parts just to sell more books. This story has nearly 300 pages and, based on past history, the other books in the series will be just as long, if not longer.
It's hard for me talk about this story without giving too much away. Flicka married her prince but things aren't good. They had an agreement but he broke the rules and now she has to get away. Fans have been begging Blair to write Flicka's story and also one for another favorite character who's been around since the first BID story. It was a wonderful shock to find this much beloved character a prominent part of Flicka's story.
Flicka is a one-woman dynamo. Her organizational skills are awesome. Yes, she has unlimited help to carry out her wishes, but she is the ultimate organizer. It's just a shame that she isn't able to reorganize her life with the same efficiency.
I laughed and I cried while reading this much anticipated story. I can't wait to read the next one. Next month can't come soon enough for me.

This book is about Her Serene Highness, Princess Friedricke Von Hannover, aka Flicka, Wulf's younger sister was something I have been waiting anxiously for, preordered & finally got at midnight last nite. YAY! So good! Alot of this book is Flicka's perspective of the events leading up to her wedding to Pierre, the heir to the throne in Monaco & the Wulf/ Rae wedding months later & her relationship with a certain bodyguard. But, this is no ordinary, sedate princess. Underneath the royal veil, she is a quite a dynamic force! Once Upon A Time sets up the story that will continue in the next book, which I've already preordered.
If you haven't read one Blair's books, don't start here with this book, you'd miss so much. Do yourself the biggest bookworm favor & get the suggested reading order of these books & READ EVERY SINGLE ONE of them. It might take you a while but it's seriously worth every minute spent. One of my favorite massive series of all times. When the entire series is complete, I will read them all again just because I can!
