Calder comes from a very well off family with 3 other sisters. Calder is a twin with a twist, which you will need to read why. I love how Mary names her characters as well. It’s amazing that as you are reading and the descriptions that flood your mind of characters, your mind chooses the person who closes resembles that description. I must know a lot of people to quickly get that picture imbedded in my mind, but that is how I love to read. The writer isn’t doing their job if I can’t picture their descriptions.
As for the storyline, it’s an amazing book with loads of life, laughter and challenges thrown in. What I love about the book, it appeals to me that this could be an actual real life storyline. It’s not far fetched or off the walls. It can be real. Mary is brilliant as a writer and I will always follow her. She is my number one favourite writer. Congratulations Mary.
Adam Stone is a man who has worked and fought his way out of poverty and now enjoys somewhat of a comfortable lifestyle. When he meets Calder, their encounter is a bit tense although the underline attraction is there. This first meeting is so freaking hot, in my opinion. The way Adam comes to her aid was intense and swoon-worthy. Fate keeps throwing them together and eventually they give in to their attraction and although neither of the two thinks it’s serious, they can’t help to think that maybe this time it’s different. Maybe this time, something deeper may be in the works.
I just love the concept of a sisters quartet and each having their own story to tell. I myself have 2 older sisters and can relate to the comradery they share. There is nothing more special than a sister to share your joys and sorrows with. They truly love each other and have each other’s back. The names are so unique and beautiful, which is another interesting tidbit in this story. I think the main characters are great and the writing is just phenomenal.
Despite this being a romance, and a spicy one at that, the thing I enjoyed the most about this book was the relationship and bond the four Benedict sisters shared. This book was Calder's story, and the next book will be her sister Bryce's story. I am assuming that there will also be books for the other two Benedict sisters, Aldi and Destry. I also enjoyed how it looks like the villain and an intriguing storyline is going to be part of all the books in this series.
This is a book that will appeal to readers who are looking for a well written contemporary romance that has the main characters meet and begin a physical relationship early on. Calder and Adam are in synch for most of the book and their only real conflict is short lived. They are each likable and bordering on being perfect. The Benedict sisters have a close relationship among themselves that feels a bit like the March sisters from Little Women, although nothing else about their life circumstances is similar. The Benedicts are wealthy New Yorkers who have dysfunctional parents, sharing the same mother but four different fathers.
I recommend this book if you would like a contemporary romance with strong and interesting main characters who have an active physical relationship. The supporting characters are likewise interesting and strong. The storyline seemed fresh. Be prepared to be starting a new series with this book
