"...a well-written story that has everything readers look for in the genre; balanced writing, a fascinating plot, and memorable characters. It is surprising that it is a debut novel because it scores successfully on many different levels. Here is a story that feels so real that the reader will be emotionally involved in it. I fell in love with Garry as a character from the start and for fans who love characters that are human and broken, and stories where characters evolve into something better, this novel will be a great treat. When we meet Garry, he is physically broken, but the inner journey he makes is incredible and readers will love it. Amanda has her brokenness as well, a woman who wants nothing but to adopt a child after a failed marriage, but she finds love in the most unexpected place. One Chance, One Moment: Book One - The Mandy Story is well-plotted and character development is excellent. Judith Ann Kohnen has created her unique signature in this spellbinding romance. You won't be able to put it down once you start reading." - Reviewed by Romuald Dzemo for Readers' Favorite
"...a riveting contemporary romance with believable characters and a gripping plot. A series of unfortunate events has led the renowned singer, Garry Danzlo, to the point of wanting nothing but to live a life of solitude. Grief stricken by his father's suicide and broken by an accident, he has no passion for life anymore. When his sister hires Amanda Fields to nurse him back to health, he is resolved to send her away as soon as he gets the chance. Amanda might just be seeing an opportunity to raise funds to adopt eight-year-old, wheelchair-bound Robbie, but she is catapulted onto a path she never could have envisioned, linked to Garry in a way she'd never experienced before, not even in her failed marriage. I fell in love with Judith Ann Kohnen's writing and her characters. Hardly ever does one find an author with the ability to recreate the sensations of the human heart with such clarity. The prose is crisp and the author writes with confidence, creating a powerful dramatic effect with the unique sentence structure, the perfect paragraph breaks, and the impeccable punctuation. Readers will immediately take a liking to the key characters in this story and will learn to enjoy the quirky moments and feel the exacting emotions. One Chance, One Moment had me gripped from the very first page and there wasn't a moment it never had me absorbed. The story is well- fleshed out, and the author explores themes of love, passion, family, and work with great mastery. This is a page-turner in its genre." - Reviewed by Divine Zape for Readers' Favorite

Judith Ann’s expert use of description places me into her novel’s scenes as much as my feet enable me to walk the paths of the forest. She has a knack for bringing to life ordinary scenes with which I can easily associate, such as “a pattering tat-tat-tat sounded across the linoleum floor.” I didn’t have to read the next line to understand that she was describing a beagle—one that reminded me of a similar dog my family owned decades ago.
Captivating dialogue occasionally leads to unexpected erotic, yet brief scenes that could otherwise be ruined with too much detail. I found myself easily relating passages in the book to my own experiences as well as to my own desires that had lain dormant. If you haven’t tried reading a romance novel lately, read One Chance, One Moment and lose yourself in the scenes; you may even find yourself assuming the persona of one of the several memorable characters.

Melissa is a concerned and devoted sister. She decides to make one more attempt at finding a nurse for Garry and she chooses sweet, but emotionally damaged Amanda. Amanda needs this job in order to adopt wheelchair-bound Robbie. There's just a couple of things Amanda must do in order to remain in the Danzlo house as Garry's nurse - she must dress as bizarre and dowdy as possible to avoid setting off Daphne's jealousy and she must pretend to be Jewish.
Practically penniless, because of her murdered husband's gambling debts, Amanda endures taunts and cruel treatment from a bitter Garry. But, true to any good romance novel, the unlikely pair soon find themselves strangely attracted to one another. A series of problems, obstacles and romantic snags ensue.
I found there were several storylines included in One Chance, One Moment. Some were intertwining and some were somewhat disconnected from one another. This certainly compels readers to stay on their toes while following the story. Some of what conniving Daphne did in her ongoing attempt to get rid of Amanda was downright criminal, yet she was never held accountable. I would like to have seen Amanda fight a little more, instead of resorting to crying as much as she did. I'd like to see her character become more assertive in Book Two. In addition. I'm hoping some of the unresolved issues will be addressed in upcoming books - When does Daphne get what's coming to her? How will the religious differences be addressed? Will Amanda be put in danger due to her husband's illegal gambling debts?
If you enjoy a good love story, packed with interesting characters, people you'll love to hate, and just the right amount of sex, you'll enjoy One Chance, One Moment. I'm awaiting Judith Kohnen's follow-up novel!
