David Arnot is a highly respected photographer based in New York who makes his photographic monograph debut with ONE. It will be hard to beat this first publication! Arnot not only finds models that appeal to every eye, whether the preference is for beefcake or fashion model or trim athlete. The choices of poses and the contrast between drapery and light is as fine as any being captured today. These images radiate health and honesty and sensuality, all without the emphasis being on full nudity. That just may be one of the reasons these images are so successful: the imagination is honored instead of being dictated.

Arnot places his models inside and outside, by water, on porches overlooking water, boats, in the breezes that windows allow as they move curtains to shape the transience of the moment. The eyes engage and invite and reveal both the privacy and the intimacy of the model's thoughts. There is an obvious trust between model and photographer and that is why the images are so relaxed and natural. The word that keeps coming to mind when perusing this monograph is 'elegance'. Yes, these images are erotic but on their own terms - no need for frank exposition when the models can portray all of that and more with stance and glance and gaze.

It will be interesting to see where David Arnot's next monograph will take us. This an artist of the first order and his works are magnificent: ditto the models! Grady Harp, June 11

As a collector of photography books, I look for several signs that the photographer understands how to shoot the human form; composition, lighting, and most importantly, symmetry are all imperative to creating the best possible work with your subject matter. This book achieves this in spades; everything about it is meticulously crafted, from the choice of models, to the balance of pin-up and artistic shots, every detail seems to have been carefully considered to culminate in a visual feast that has to be seen to be believed. The anatomy on some of these men is absolutely awe-inspiring, and some are so well captured, that it almost seems as if they were going to move from the page itself.
Another thing I look for in these types of books are a consideration for using a variety of ethnicities; the models range from dark to very light-skinned, and this reflects the world as we know it. I believe this is a testament to David Arnot's understanding that men come in all shades and colors, not focusing on just one type of skin-tone (which results in a biased and boring outcome, in my opinion), and is a huge accomplishment on his part.
If you noticed, I failed to give this book a five-star rating, as I have recently been spoiled by the most amazing work I have ever seen (Player's Two by Rick Day); before I had acquired that book, however, this was the centerpiece of my collection, and a true representation of what I look for in a collection of male form photography. You will not be disappointed with this book, I guarantee it.

David Arnot's ONE is exquisite in its beauty and presentation. His models are stunning and inviting, and he poses them in a variety of interiors and exteriors. The paper is a cream-color and the binding is secure. It is a pleasure to hold this book and to admire its beauty.

Mr. Arnot is a genius with his camera, and he brings so much beauty into the world with his eye and aesthetic. The book is worth the price, and I look forward to more of Mr. Arnot's outstanding work in the future. ONE comes with my highest recommendation.

I think that hairy, masculine guys are hot! One glance at the cover compelled to me open it. Photos of hairy men exposing their hunky bodies are throughout. My favorite photo is on the cover. The model is mostly exposed, but we don't see everything. It is incredibly sexy.

Love this book! The guys are hot, the pictures are fantastic and the book itself is quality (paper, printing and binding). It usually the first book guests pick up off the table to look at and when someone starts thumbing through the pages, I small group usually forms with 'ohhs and ahhhs' as people comment on their favorite guys. You know its a good book when you realize you'll have to hide it before company, not because you're embarrassed by it, but when you know that it'll likely distract your guests for half the evening from the planned event.

David Arnot's book is hard to find and am so glad I got it. It adds another dimension to my collection of male photography. His eye for light and position is exceptional and his photos are worth reviewing over and over. Definitely get this book while you can as these small printings tend to disappear.

Though the models are the best and photography is an art in this book, I don't like the mixture of feminine clothing in the book, I find it less erotic than it seems. This is the book, on the other hand, that can be material for an evening discussion with friends with no provocation, and that is a very useful thing. Between the porn and art there are bridges, and this is one of them.

This book is HOT!!! Great photography - the cover alone makes it a great coffee table accessory....or you could take the book apart and frame the photos - the thought has crossed my mind. Maybe I will just buy another copy and do that...
