Laura Eckroat was born and raised in Whiting, Indiana. She has lived in Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts, and now lives in Monroe, WI. She is married to Steven and has a daughter, Ashley. She also has an 8 yr old Anatolian Shepherd named Muffin, who was rescued by the Eckroat's when she was 12 wks old. Mrs. Eckroat is an elementary school teacher. She used to volunteer at the Ft Worth Nature Ctr using her books to teach children about the beauty and wonder of nature; her writing workshops also teach children how to start a Science journal. She previously was an HR mgr and the gen mgr of an educational toy store. She is also a Chicago Bears football fan -- and will always be! Even though Green Bay Packer Fans try and convert her!
The Life of Bud won Best Children's Book at the NTBF in 2010. A Simpler Time was used by the Southbridge, MA school district as their Summer Reading kickoff book for 2010. Laura's 3rd book "Went Out To Get a Donut - Came Home With a Muffin" was featured in Fort Worth, Texas Magazine in June, 2012 & won BEST Children's Book ages 7 & Under by the Texas Association of Authors. Her 4th book and Muffin's 2nd adventure - "What's In the Corner? A Muffin "Tail" released June, 2013.
