Jack O’Lantern is Mrs. Eckroat’s latest release. Her third book in her life cycle series. Jack is a full of mental imagery and Greg White has captured Laura’s words in vivid illustrations. A great teacher gift!

One Eye - A Squirrel's "Tail" -- Based on a true story -- Laura's husband rescued and bonded with a small squirrel who was injured. Nursing One Eye back to health while watching her grow and thrive was a 3 year journey. This story will pull at your heart strings while you learn about the strong bonds animals and humans can have.

MUFFIN'S SHADOW - A Muffin "Tail" -- It was awarded 2nd Place from the North Texas Book Festival -- Best Children's Book - 2019. Muffin is back and finds her Shadow -- but this Shadow will be sticking around even on cloudy days! Muffin's Shadow is for kids PreK - 3rd grade and a definite addition to your other Muffin "TAILS"!!!!

The Lost Tooth is Mrs. Eckroat's first Chapter Book and is an adventure of a TOOTH that is LOST -- it is funny and suspenseful -- Laura enjoys using higher level words in her writing to challenge young readers -- this book has a Glossary to help children learn new vocabulary.

Laura Eckroat was born and raised in Whiting, Indiana. She has lived in Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts, and now lives in Monroe, WI. She is married to Steven and has a daughter, Ashley. She also has an 8 yr old Anatolian Shepherd named Muffin, who was rescued by the Eckroat's when she was 12 wks old. Mrs. Eckroat is an elementary school teacher. She used to volunteer at the Ft Worth Nature Ctr using her books to teach children about the beauty and wonder of nature; her writing workshops also teach children how to start a Science journal. She previously was an HR mgr and the gen mgr of an educational toy store. She is also a Chicago Bears football fan -- and will always be! Even though Green Bay Packer Fans try and convert her!

The Life of Bud won Best Children's Book at the NTBF in 2010. A Simpler Time was used by the Southbridge, MA school district as their Summer Reading kickoff book for 2010. Laura's 3rd book "Went Out To Get a Donut - Came Home With a Muffin" was featured in Fort Worth, Texas Magazine in June, 2012 & won BEST Children's Book ages 7 & Under by the Texas Association of Authors. Her 4th book and Muffin's 2nd adventure - "What's In the Corner? A Muffin "Tail" released June, 2013. If you would like Mrs. Eckroat to visit your school or library -- please contact her at -- she gives presentations on the importance of writing and shares with children her love of writing!
