From the Back Cover
Mark spun around at the sound of his nameand peered anxiously into theshadows. The owner of the voice snuffed out hiscigarette as he steppedinto the circle of illumination thrown off by thefloodlight above thelab entrance. Silent security cameras panned the scene.
Mark didn't recognize the stranger, who wasprobably a decade older then hewas, judging from the lines beginning to showaround his eyes. Theartificial light made his skin glow almost golden. Hisface was astriking blend of Eastern and Western influences, a handsomemarriage oftwo races that made Mark wonder as to his ancestry. The blackeyescontained a hint of impertinence, and his goatee made him faintlyresemble somemodern-day Manchurian warrior.
Mark drew back, wary of what might be comingnext.
"Relax, Malone." The voice was deep andseemed friendly enough.
"Do I know you?"
"No, but I'm here to save your sorry ass."
