Editorial Reviews

Truly one of the best books I have read. I am going to see about adding it to our English class.
Laurie Carbaugh-Summerville
Robert takes you on a ride with "Bags" through the ups and downs of life that are real. This book pulls you in and you can't put it down as it resonates with every day life and business. The book shares key fundamentals that will help you no matter where you are in life or business. Heart warming, inspiring and full of life lessons! I wanted more and didn't want the book to end.

The author creates an Inspirational story that engages the reader in being able to identify with the characters. I discovered that at different points in our lives we can see a little of our self in each one. I'm not a big reader of books but I was drawn and engaged enough to complete in a day and a half. I have come to believe in the simple truth that the author and main charter " Bags" arrived at in the end, thru my life's challenges. A great read to awaken your Spirit !

The author does an amazing job of telling the story in a way which connects the readers to the characters and to the lessons being taught throughout the story. The brilliant writing of ROBERT grabs hold of the reader and takes you on a beautiful journey of life and how investing time and energy in people can not only change others but also oneself. The story is refreshing and heartfelt and would make a wonderful movie. I hope this is the first of many books to come from Robert Holmes!

Through fiction, Robert brings you to a place of self-reflection with One Fish Changes Everything. The characters are people you know in your everyday life. The challenges they face are familiar to all of us. The way they overcome those challenges are simplified in a way that can be applied by all of us in our own lives - whether it be as a leader in business or as the leader of our own life. The relationship with the characters is special and heartwarming. One Fish Changes Everything can truly change everything and bring you back in focus.

Robert Holmes weaves an inspirational tale that embodies the spirit and hopefulness in all of us. Bags' journey of self-discovery not only highlights our human struggles, but it successfully proves our ability to generate changes that promise a more rewarding path to our true purpose in life. One Fish Changes Everything is a must-read for anyone longing to be effective in their business, personal, and leadership relationships.
A great book for people at all stages of their life journey. This book was very relatable and inspiring. (In full disclosure I grew up in Ohio, so the imagery was especially vivid for me). The simple messages and characters we can all relate to, masterfully woven into memorable stories were powerful. Four steps to reaching goals, communicating with confidence, patience, perspective and the all important fact... we are not always in control - regardless of our preparations. The book is now in the hands of my teenage son for his enrichment. Enjoy your copy!

This well-written tale pulls one in and engages your emotions all while revealing many valuable life lessons. It presents a simple project framework, but is so much more than just a book about accomplishing things. It has something for just about everyone-- logic, strategy, fishing knowledge, spirituality, plus it's just a great story. This book has it all in an easy-to-read package. I highly recommend it!This well-written tale pulls one in and engages your emotions all while revealing many valuable life lessons. Full disclosure: I am not into fishing and I am not religious ... but I loved this book! It's a simple read and I surprised myself by how much I really got attached to the characters. The author shared without being preachy and that is no small feat. The lessons in leadership and life didn't blow me away, but the spirit with which they were conveyed hit the perfect tone for me.

Absolutely loved this book! One Fish Changes Everything made me think of many people in my life who changed something for me. Whether I knew them for weeks, months or even years, many people have made a huge impact on my life the way Father DeFalco did for Bags. A great read to challenge and remind us all that we have the potential and responsibility to make a difference in this life!

This book touched me on so many levels.
The author has mastered the art of transporting the reader, and inserting their presence with the characters and their surroundings. From a business perspective, it provides basic and non-complicated steps to help stay the course. The story uses inspiring examples of having faith, regardless of your particular beliefs. Would be a great gift. If there were a section in a book store, I can imagine it in many sections. Fiction, Fishing, Self Help, Business or Spiritual. This book will be a game changer for me. Thank you!

I had to write a review of this fun little book. I have been a business owner for over 15 years and as of late have become complacent with life and business. I was once an avid reader and attribute much of my success to the knowledge gained from those books. All that said I hadn't read a book for probably 4 years. On the advice of a friend I ordered and read this book. It was a short fun little read that uses a great fictional story to teach some great principles and character that will transform the way you think. It was so easy to read and like any good book leaves you at the end of each chapter longing to continue the story. In the end it has given me a renewed enthusiasm in business and personal life. Absolutely read this book and enjoy the blessing that follow as you dwell on the lessons gleamed from this great story.

I really enjoyed ever turn of the page!

I am not a fisherman but I easily connected to the characters as they were incredibly relatable. While there is a character for everyone depending on where you are in your life, the main character Bags has a character arc parallel to everyones pursuit of happiness. Watching his character develop was eye opening and an inspiration or my own future. You do not need to be a fisherman to relate. However, I can absolutely see the perks if you are. I found my self invested in the happiness of the main character. At the same time, I was able to connect with what Bags was learning to my own life.

The author did an amazing job sharing his wisdom through this sweet story of Bags and his quest to catch the big one! The book "One Fish Changes Everything" has so many layers of depth to it. It truly is an inspirational story about investing in others. Im excited to share this book with my book club ladies. The book is full of wisdom and lessons learned. I highly recommend it! And I highly recommend bringing along a notepad to take notes just as the character Bags did. You will be thankful you did!

"I had the added bonus of growing up in NE Ohio, owning a boat, and fishing the same lake as the main character. But there's far more to this book than fishing. You learn things that can be applied to your personal and professional life while being entertained and emotionally moved. Can't wait for the author to write another!"
Tom Wogan

From the Author

The world is moving fast, and, in many cases, it feels like oursociety is moving in the wrong direction. More than anything, we aredisconnecting from relationships and connecting with our phones, our technology or, often times, consuming ourselves with self-pity. Ifyou study broken lives and broken people, many have spent a lifetimeovercoming their insecurity and their lack of confidence. One waywe try to compensate is by pouring ourselves into something weare confident in and working hard to develop the skills to win. Thatcould be business, sports, art, or so many different things. Theseactivities become all-consuming and require so much dedicatedpassion and selfish focus.

So, what suffers? Typically, our relationships with one anothersuffer and we can't live up to our own expectations, because we can'talways win or be on top (as much as we would all love to).
What helps? Often, real relationships, mentors, helping othersand a realization of the fact that we are not in total control. Theseare things that help change our mindset.

Do you see the problem? Our relationships suffer but realrelationships are a part of the cure. We think it all depends on usand that pressure adds up.

How many people do you walk by every day that you cordiallyaddress, but you really know nothing about them? Do you remainconsumed by your own thoughts? Do you let your surroundingsdetermine your well-being? I wrote the main character "Bags" tocarry the characteristics of someone who is always down on himself, ignoring his neighbor, hard to deal with, has very few friends. After some bad decisions and unfortunate luck, he is not movingforward in life and, quite frankly, isn't trying. The only thing he ispassionate about is fishing. Oddly enough, a series of events leadshim to uncover that an unlikely character can be his best chance oflanding a giant. He sets out on a journey that enables him to graspa simple four-step approach to reaching his goals. He learns clearlessons of communicating with confidence, realizes patience is a partof every strategic plan, soaks up the importance of perspective, andrecognizes that no matter how well you strategize you are never incomplete control. Most important he realizes that one fish changeseverything!

Take these principles to heart. We all need relationship withothers to sharpen us. We also need to understand it will not alwaysturn out the way we expect. We should always prepare and plan tothe best of abilities, but we should be okay if it doesn't work outthe way we planned. The old priest enables Bags to see this whensharing his religious beliefs, but no matter what your beliefs, theseprinciples are sound. They will enable you to be okay not catchingthe biggest fish in the lake, and much more thankful if you do.

Thanks for reading, and please strive to pour yourself intoothers...share you! It helps us all!
