I bought "The One Gift" originally because I met the author, D. Gary Young, and his wife, at a conference last December. I was extremely impressed with him and with their relationship. Although he was there to give a presentation and I was there to receive it, I found myself very deeply affected by what he didn't say, by the energy he emanates, that being of a man not only of great accomplishment, but also of deep commitment, passion, humility, and extraordinary faith. I wanted to know more about "him" and "them" so I did what I do ... I went to Amazon to see what he might have written, since authors always reflect their true personalities in their writing. I found in this book and having read it, offer that it was exactly what I was looking for. I am quite convinced this book is extremely autobiographical in its feelings, perceptions, attitudes, and leadership skill sets, and quite close to real incidents in the current life of its author, including the immense dififculty of some of the life decisions and experiences of its protagonists, miraculous representations from the Divine, the energies of loyal support and bitter betrayal from people around him, and ultimately, a book about love both sacred and secular.
