On a business trip Derek picks Melissa up at a hotel bar while she’s on a spa retreat with her friend. They get to know each other physically throughout their week while carefully guarding their own personal information and her identity.

There are some interesting plot twists and well designed confrontations. Melissa beats us over the head a few too many times in the beginning telling us how “unavailable” she is. The reveal when she returns home would have been more dramatic if it hadn’t been so obvious. Still Melissa and Derek are both likeable characters, and they have quite a few hot and heavy scenes. On the downside to that, there is instant lust but nothing to illustrate how they fall into instant love. The first person POV story moves along well. The ending was actually pretty satisfying till the epilogue, which left me slightly frustrated. Too much is crammed into it (some things that I’m not sure even work time wise), cracks in the whole instant love/lust scenario become evident, and more plot doors are opened rather than closed. While there is a HEA and no actual cliffhanger, be warned—the epilogue serves to set up a future novella for the pair, rather than provide closure on the current story.

It's not very often that a reader is absolutely taken by a book within the first page, or chapter, let alone the opening line. So you could imagine my surprise when author Tai Louise did exactly that with her debut novel `One to Hold'.
All I can say is thank goodness this arc arrived in my inbox on a work/child free day because I wasn't putting this one down for anything.

From the hot as hell sexcapade that was her long overdue trip away to the feelings of failure, broken trust and heart wrenching atrocities Melissa Jones has been forced to endure, this tale of love, life and loss had me firmly in its steely grip from start to finish.

While away with her closest friend Lainey, for a little R&R the last thing Mel expects is to come face to face with Mr tall dark and dangerous. Derek Alexander is sex-on-legs and the instant and extreme chemistry is far too much for either of them to refuse.
What starts out as a steamy holiday fling quickly escalates to something much more, but will the secrets and lies of their pasts destroy this kindling romance before it even gets started?

Gotta love me some alpha male, and Derek has that particular title wrapped around every sexy inch of him mmm!mmm!
Allowing herself to be so thoroughly seduced by this stranger - a man who is the polar opposite to her usual type - is the most wonderful, scary, freeing experience of Melissa's life. "the Derek encounter" was just the thing to snap Mel out of her funk and give her the faith she needed to move on.

My heart broke over and over again for this kind hearted and amazingly resilient woman, who despite everything managed to pull up her big girl panties to take on the world and her new role within it.

Mystery, suspense, romance oh MY!

With amazing sensual and hot scenes, this book also has the added bonus of mystery, suspense and intrigue.

A great writing style has been displayed by this amazing writer. You don’t find out everything all at once and tied up with a bow on chapter 4. No you work for it, in the sense that every page has you closer and closer to the end and the outcome, which in my opinion is the beauty of the book. I was biting my nails and could not wait to see what happened next. A little bit here, a bigger bit there and then … well to find that out you just have to read it ;)

Twists and turns will leave you wondering and oh yes, the sexual chemistry and scenes will have you tearing thru your drawers looking for your fan.

Flowing dialogue and wonderful character development will suck you right in.

Two people meeting at a spa. One looking for peace and quiet while dealing with a reality that she would rather ignore and the other, there on business.

Melissa is a beautiful woman not looking for anything besides serenity and unavailable, completely unwilling for anything else.
Derek is the unbelievable sexy gorgeous man who is was ex-military along with being a retired police officer (perfect swoon worthy combo right?) He is hiding a past with a secret of his own.

These two meet a bar and yes feel the instant sexual attraction two beautiful strangers would feel. They are swept away with a passion so intense it leaves you breathless.

A week – 7 days or less – a time for mind blowing, earth shattering, life changing sex. That is what these two agreed upon, but would it be enough? Would feelings start developing that weren't part of the plan?

Tia Louise has figured out the formula.......

.........gorgeous cover, hot-up-against-the-wall sex in the first chapter, and a delicious ex-Marine alpha (and, I mean mouth-watering).

I swear I stared at the cover for at least 10 minutes before I even opened the book. I am in some serious cover love! I know, I know.... book... cover... judging... I get it, but I really can't help it. I love it when I am sooooooo right about a cover!!

I don't usually finish a book in one sitting because for some reason it spoils the experience for me. But, I couldn't help myself!! One To Hold. One sitting. F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S.

"You're not safe," I whispered. "And you're not sweet."

Derek and Melissa meet in a bar at a desert resort. She's there on a spa retreat, he's there for business. Not different or exciting???? You might even say cliche? Well, when Melissa looks up and locks eyes with the most gorgeous set of blue ones attached to one very mysterious, tall, and sexy-as-sin god, it's anything but. Derek walks over, introduces himself, and immediately sparks fly. I am telling you, holy cow, this has got to be one of the most exciting and provocative "meetings" EVAH!!! It had me weak in the knees with eyes a big as saucers because I didn't want to miss a single word.

There is NO doubt - he wants her, she wants him. So they both agree to a one week stand. She's at the spa for a reason. She's taking a break and running from her past. Derek might just be the thing Melissa needs...... or not. Okay, so you're probably saying "yah, I can figure out the rest of the story from here..." Go right ahead and think that, but I think you will be pleasantly surprised (and then some).
