Tia Louise is a fantastic storyteller. Her style of writing is easy to follow and flows seamlessly from scene-to scene, Her character descriptions include background details that the reader can relate to or perhaps find a bit of him/her within. The romance is good as are the panty-dropping sex scenes. In this book, I believe Elaine would be a friend & going out would be a lot of fun. A bevy of beautiful & independent women, each her own person, but a lot of fun to be around as a group would insure we had plenty of gorgeous men to talk to or be carefree & enticing with. Vacations with just the girls, would be tons of fun and include lots of wine.
Recreating sex scenes from this story would leave one breathless but fingers, mouths, huge & large are descriptions that add spice to life, happy endings and plenty of smiles.
Melissa & Elaine, best friends since childhood, take a much needed vacation to the desert for a rejuvenating one week stay at the Cactus Flower Spa & Hotel. They are staying in a quiet & relaxing room at the Spa Hotel. The premises includes the spa with private hotel, the main hotel plus large, bustling conference center. Elaine & Melissa are indulging in rejuvenating spa treatments, lounging afternoons at the adults only pool reserved for spa guests and enjoying the relaxing atmosphere. It's peaceful and just what these two ladies need.
The temperature of the desert is hot, but the sex on these pages is steamy hot!! Melissa & Elaine meet Patrick Knight and Derrick Alexander, of Knight & Alexander, during their stay at Cactus Flower.
This story has details of: a destructive marriage, reality that money doesn't buy happiness, strong women, security & safety, starting over, believing in yourself, desire, mind-blowing sex and sex that leaves you breathless and wanting more.
This book was written in first-person-singular, which usually isn't my preferred reading style. In this book however, it didn't bother me, since I thought that this approach created even more proximity with Melissa and allowed me to relate better to her. In any case, at some point I missed Derek's input, his line of thinking or his interpretation of what was happening. I considered the first-person-singular in connection with only Melissa's vantage point too one-sided. But I was wrong! The epilogue came to contradict my judgement!
Although it was quite late into the plot until it was explicitly explained what happened to Melissa, I could predict nearly immediately. This didn't really diminish the reading pleasure, as I was seeking to find out if my guessing was correct. I absolutely enjoyed following Melissa on her week long adventure, how she would deal with her past and how courageously she fought to achieve closure from her marriage. Well done!
There was some strong language used and the sex scenes were detailed and explicit. However, neither of these components were offending, as they just seemed to fit very naturally into the story line.
What a wonderful romance!
Melissa - what a strong but soft h. I enjoyed this character a lot. How resilient she is and what she overcame to come out better in the end. Her story was one that kept me guessing until the author wanted to reveal her secrets to us.
Derek - yeah he's all kinds of tall dark H. He definitely works to become the hero Melissa deserves.
Elaine was great and made me laugh at some of her comments and banter with Melissa.
Overall this story was very well written. I enjoyed it and am pondering the decision to purchase book two. It was a quick read and I read it in under a day.
