Jace arrives at his home to discover Shay is his daughter, London's, live in tutor. Who was hired by his assistant while he was working overseas.
I really felt for London. I think she's really starved for love and also is a typical teenager.
Jace is determined to continue working in his field overseas, putting London in a boarding school. Yet he's also struggling with ways to connect with her.
Shay is doing everything she can to help them both.
I love Shay's brother's and sisters and what they bring to this story.
Shay Walker is a live-in tutor to a young girl who just lost her mother and has a father who is overseas and has not seen his daughter for 10 years.
London is a 15 year old trying to find her way after her mother's death and her father making his way back into her life. She has some resentment, pain, and attitude, but then again all teenagers do.
Jace is a successful business man that works overseas in remote countries making green energy available to all. He doesn't know what Shay looks like, since he had someone else hire her for him. So when he meets a stranger at a hotel bar after the roads are closed due to a fire, he has no idea it is Shay, since she never gives him her name either. She is just known as birthday girl.
Shay meets a stranger in a hotel bar, and strikes up a conversation with him, after a few drinks of course running through her veins. She spills it is her birthday and they share some food, talk, and play cards.
It turns out that they are stuck in the hotel for 2 nights, unlike the first night, Jace stays with Shay on the second and the two heat up the sheets and have some major chemistry.
When Jace makes his way to see his daughter London, he is surprised to see Shay is the one to answer the door. They are both surprised. Little did they know that one is an employer and the other the employee.
They try their hardest to stay away from each other, but that doesn't work for too long.
Shay is also still dealing with things from her past, her idea of her not being a Walker, the death of her father, the fire at the cottages that took her family's business, and now a new adventure that would take her to France.
Can Jace deal with the responsibilty of being a father full time and not travelling for work and open his heart to Shay?
Can Shay finally believe she is a true Walker and realize that she is in love with Jace and London and that she is looking for that family connection she has always wanted?
Great second book in the series. Can't wait for Brett's and Mac's books!!
One Kiss is a book about a man who suddenly has to step up into the role of father to his now teenage daughter-- a teenage daughter who really doesn’t know who she is or where she belongs. She’s so lost that she’s even trying out different first names. The only stability in her life is Shay, her live-in tutor.
The book is full of struggles. Jace is struggling to figure out how to be a father and how to adjust his life to fulfill his responsibilities to his job and his daughter. London is trying to find somewhere to belong amid all the normal teenage struggles. Shay, the tutor, is the most together of the three, but she also has identity issues with her family and in being a “true Walker”. There’s also the romantic struggle between Jace and Shay. Shay wants to forget the sexual exchange between them ever happened, but it might not be quite so easy to do. Can the three of them help each other figure out where they each belong?
I was given this book free in exchange for an honest review
