About the Author

Kristi writes about hard-working people living realistic lives. Her heroes are cowboys and bush pilots, her heroines are tough cops and office workers and veterinarians. She puts ordinary people into extraordinary situations, and lets them discover true character in the face of danger. It might be somewhat out of style these days, but Kristi's heroes and heroines have lines that they don't cross, things that they won't do to save the day. They will find a way to achieve their goals that may take longer and be riskier, rather than cross those lines into doing "whatever it takes" and landing in the murk of questionable morality. They are human, and they do make mistakes. They are practical people and if their loved one is in imminent danger and the only way to save them is to shoot to kill, somebody is going to die. But death and mayhem are never the first choice for Kristi's heroes. Her villains, however, are under no such restraints. With each novel, Kristi goes deeper to create characters who have real motives, goals, and backgrounds that give the reader a glimpse into the heart of darkness. Villains who hold life cheap, and leave chaos in their wake. The end result is nail biting, edge of your seat suspense that will keep you turning pages, rooting for the good guys and that happy ever after ending. The Boys of Syracuse, Kansas, is a series of standalone novels featuring characters connected to the town of Syracuse, Kansas. Most notably a family of cattle ranchers whose ties to the land go back to the 1880s. Good, old-fashioned cowboys.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

I recieved an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have never read any of Kristi's previous books , so I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. I would recommend reading them with prior to this one to give you a better knowlege of the the characters and town. You won't be disappointed.

Kristi has an uncanny ability to make you feel just as nervous and scared as the characters in her book. The knot that formed in my stomach as they were trying to escape would not go away even as adult responsibilities came about. Trying to run around with one eye on my ereader was not easy , but there was no way I was putting it down.

Kylie is 17 and has a bright future that she's reading to jump head first into. In a small town where nothing bad happens she wouldn't think anything could happen to her. New comers with the promise of giving her a chance to live out her wildest dreams causes her to take her and her best friend Jax to the brink of danger.

Jax is a 20 year old farm hand , in love with his best friend. He's been in love with her since the first smile and would do anything to see that smile on her face. Alittle cautious when all Kylie's dreams are staring them in the face , he cant help but go along with it. After being abducted from the fair he feels responsible for getting himself and the others out of harms way.

The tragedy and suspense of this book was amazing. I would highly recommend for anyone needing a good hang on the edge of your seat moment.

Kylie's dream is to become a star, she loves to sing and Jax loves Kylie. One night at the County Fair Kylie thinks her dreams are finally coming true but as they near the big brown r.v. Jax's instincts tell him something isn't right. With the crackle of a stun gun, their lives are changed forever. With great plot twists and an emotional rollercoaster of a story and I loved the characters. The author was able to capture my attention and pull at my heartstrings. Kudos Kristi!

One last song was definitely unlike any book I have ever read. From the topic and situations Kylie and Jax found themselves in, to the way the story jumps to hear what's happening with multiple characters throughout, I knew this was a different type of story. At first I struggled to keep up with the change of characters telling the story but once I got used to who everyone was and how they were connected it made more sense. This was actually the first book in the series that I had read so had I started with book 1 I probably would have been more familiar with who everyone was and it would have been easy to follow from beginning. There were a few spots in the story that seemed to drag on but for the most part I couldn't put it down because I was so eager to find out what was going to happen next. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series after finishing this one.

One Last Song is a well-written suspense story with a dash of romance. The romance is between the 2 main characters, Kylie and Jax. It is not a romance between the kidnapper and the victim--I find those unbelievable and disturbing.

Even though we know who the kidnappers are and who they work for, it doesn't detract from the story.
There is violence and murder in the story but nothing is in graphic detail. The violence and murder are important in providing the extra determination, wariness, and stamina exhibited by the kidnap victims and the authorities working to rescue them. It is not just for shock value.

This is the first book I have read by Kristi Cramer but I intend to read the first 2 books in this series and future books she writes. I definitely recommend reading One Last Song.

In a modern American cowboy country and western story, Kylie is the local girl who wants to make it big as a singer - and sexy hero Jax is so crazy about Kylie that he wants whatever makes her happy. So when Kylie is offered a deal that promises to put her on the path to stardom, they both jump at the offer. However, the deal proves to be a ruse and the two find themselves kidnapped and at the mercy of a mad woman.

This is a thriller written quite prosaically, so think Grisham and Turow rather than a passionate dark romance with lots of emo. I can see it as a screenplay as it has a decent plot and likeable characters, but I would have liked a bit more edge.

ARC received in return for an honest review.

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed the story line. The author has a definite gift for writing. What stopped me from giving it a four star is the fact that I was confused on multiple occasions as to what character the dialog belonged to. The author referred to characters and things that were clearly described or went on in book one and two without any inkling of backstory. I would have appreciated understanding in order to fully enjoy the novel. Since I was under the impression that this book had the ability to stand alone, I found that disappointing. Would I recommend it anyway? Yes, but it would probably be advisable to read book one and two first.
