One More Cup of Coffee has not made me a better person, not by a long shot, but it has made me a more entertained bad person, and perhaps a somewhat better regarded one at that.
I took a chance on this mostly because I like coffee. I was really disappointed at first because the whole thing tastes terrible. I couldn't determine what the blend was. I kept thinking- 'Where are these beans from?' Well, let me tell you, these beans are from Tom Pappalardo. These are Tom's beans. And they're not for oral comsumption. Take Tom's beans from your mouth.
The best thing you can do with this thing is feed it to your eyeballs. Each entry is conveniently sized to be a single-serving taste, perfect for waiting in line at the bank, picking up the kids at school, dropping the kids off at the pool (if you know what I mean. I meant pooping, in case you didn't know what I meant). Probably by now you're wondering what this thing is, since I've already told you it's actually not one more cup of coffee. It's a book.
One can apparently get coffee just about anywhere, and that's just what this author does. All your well known national favorites are here, as well as many colorful spots local to the author in western Massachusetts. If you hate visiting new places, don't worry. While he does travel near and wide to drink his coffee (sometimes), each vignette is less about the spot and more about the people. The weird, wonderful people you share the planet Earth with. Do you like people? You may meet some new friends here. Not a people person? It's just a book, and you'll likely loathe many of the people in it. It's a win-win. THIS BOOK HAS IT ALL COVERED. I highly recommend reading it.
Not a beverage! A book!
I love this book. I found myself laugh out loud (loling for you kids out there) during nearly every paragraph. I read it over the course of 4 flights and I think the other passengers around me were probably annoyed at incessant tittering.
It's a funny book. You should read it.
