Ash, Saint, Dusky, and Synn are the members of the popular rock band “Absinthe”. Because of some really bad press due to Ash’s irresponsible behavior, they were sent to an out-of-the-way town for 3 months, partially as punishment but mainly to stay out of the public eye and concentrate on writing more songs for a new album.
Ember is expecting to see the woman she dealt with on the phone and was quite shocked when three big tattooed guys walk through the unlocked door! She tries to throw them out but one of the men yells at “Ash” a fourth man who was just walking in, saying he must have read the GPS wrong. She looks up into his eyes and all the oxygen left the room! He was absolutely gorgeous. He was hard edges, muscles, tattoos, and trouble!
Ash feels an immediate attraction to Ember, but it’s different than he’s ever felt before. He knows he has to fight it; he can’t have any more scandal in his life. He has nothing to offer her with the life he lives. And he won’t be here that long.
Ember is equally shocked by her reaction to the handsome man. But she needs to put her daughter first. But the feelings just won’t go away. Both of them have endured a terrible emotional upset. Both of them are in pain. But something stronger than either of them is pulling them together, urging them to open up. Will they make that move? It can have serious consequences for each of them when other events complicate things.
This was such an excellent story that pulls the reader in immediately. The characters are deeper than the reader would suspect at first glance. Ash has brought trouble to the band with his actions which were ignited by his father’s suicide. But Ash is still a very caring, loving person who wants the best for those he considers his family. Ember is fighting to make a better life despite the abusive and troubling marriage she left behind… until it rears its ugly head in a custody battle. The band members are incredible, all of them a caring family looking out for each other. The emotions are real. The chemistry that ignites between Ash and Ember is amazing as they try to fight feelings they can’t explain. Yet they are so good together. You will not want to miss this amazing story line. It touches the heart in so many ways and teaches you that healing can be found, it’s never too late to reach out, and love can hold it all together.
The famously successful rock band Absinthe was hiding out from the media in a small town Bed and Breakfast while working on their next album. The lead singer, Ash Stone, was on a downward spiral to destruction and taking the band with him. They needed the album to be a success.
Ember Skye was a single mother to six year old Cadence and was barely getting by. She inherited her grandmother’s old home and was trying to keep it afloat by renting it out as a Bed and Breakfast.
I loved the band Absinthe. Once Cadence entered the picture, they treated her like their niece and were adorable. It was a fun read.
Seabrook took us through the initial attraction while unveiling both Ash’s and Ember’s troubled lives. They were both broken, but together, were whole. At least for the short time the band was in town. I enjoyed the storyline as well as the characters. I desired a little more depth and detail, but for a short book, I enjoyed it none the less.
All in all, it was well written, a quick read and enjoyable. I would love a follow up as well as a series, or spinoff, for the rest of the band. I mean Synn, Dusky and Saint - how could they not have great stories!
* Ember whimpered way too often during sex.
* The ending felt rushed, plus I'm not a fan of one aspect that I won't say because it's a spoiler. I was left with a few questions about the rest of the band, but maybe the author will make this a series so our questions are answered.
* Ember's ex and the way things were resolved was way too cliche.
What I liked about it:
* Well edited and well written.
* Loved the band members. Seriously, I'd love to read each of their happy ever afters.
* Enjoyed Ash's growth.
* There were a couple of twists I wasn't expecting, and I love when that happens.
Yes, I'd recommend this book.
They've been thrown together by what some might call fate, others will say coincidence. Either way, it's all about the music, family, healing the broken pieces of the past.
Binding together their messy, sexy, lyrical, humorous, frustrating lives together in the most spectator of ways.
All while we get to meet some hella fun, sexy beasts of a band to fall in love with Ms. Seabrooks's way!
All around fantastic read!
