Angela Stevens and her husband Christopher travelled so much in opposite directions all the time that Christopher fell into having an affair with his assistant, Janet because she travelled with him. Angela was heartbroken to discover Christopher's infidelity, and on a whim had a one-night stand with "Sexy Bartender" from the hotel lounge. Little did Angela know that "Sexy Bartender" was Logan Black - the owner of the hotel and not really just a bartender. They had an amazing night together, but Angela is so aware that she is still so very married to Christopher, and she plans to stop travelling, and hopefully start a family. Those plans are gone completely when Christopher goes to speak with Angela, and tells her he is in love with Janet and they are expecting a child. Angela is just stunned, and hurt, and then angry as hell! Logan has found out where she lives, and is openly pursuing Angela now, and Tabitha, Angela's best friend, and assistant at Angela's company has a full collection of horrible names for Christopher. Tabitha never liked Christopher and made no secret of it either. Logan thinks Angela and Tabitha are so funny together as friends, but he has his eye on the prize - Angela - and he is going to do whatever it takes to have her.
Life intrudes on them again when Christopher and Janet are involved in a brutal car accident, and Angela tries to help Christopher pick up the pieces of his shattered life. She lets him stay at the condo so he can recover, but finds that he is intruding on her chance with Logan, and that is something that Angela just will not allow!
This box set has some of the best fun, great one-liners, and Tabitha should be a comedienne - she is THAT funny! This was a wonderful read, and I don't want to spoil it for everyone! Just get it, and ENJOY!!! And then read Tabitha's story too!
This is the second book in the One Night series. It was a good read! Logan is amazing! Angela just shows you more of how strong and awesome she is!
Great ending to a great series!! It seemed a little rushed but it didn't take away from the story. I can relate to meeting a guy and having sex to finding out that first time you got preggo, then getting married to said guy! A lot of Angela's feelings were ones I had! Really enjoyed this series
I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
One Night is the first in a trilogy, but it could be read as a stand alone short story.
This is the first published work by the author, and it is pretty good. Much of One Night is devoted to setting up the three-novella series with descriptions of the main character’s life and marriage. The back ground gives the reader insight into why Angela decides to have a one night stand.
While adulterous flings are frowned upon, and revenge sex even more so, the author did not shy away from the topic. Both Angela and her husband, Christopher, travel perpetually for business. The reader isn't given insight into why they got married in the first place, but it is clear that nothing is being done to maintain the relationship. One Night is an excellent example of the fragility of marriage and how easily vows are forgotten.
While the ending of the book is not a complete surprise, I enjoyed the rom-com-esque final scene.
One More Night is the second novella published by A.M. Willard, and it is the second book in her One Night Trilogy.
The plot moves along at a good pace with more focus on action than story setup. Angela has returned home. She wants to make her marriage work. In an effort to put some zing back in her marriage or put the sting on her husband's affair, Angela calls his secretary looking for information about Christopher's travel schedule. She gets that and more. That fateful phone call is the catalyst for the avalanche that is Christopher's and Angela's imploding marriage.
The characters are primarily the same, but as the story evolves, their development increases. The cheating husband becomes someone worthy of loathing. The one night stand shows up again, and he may not be the shallow playboy everyone reads about in the tabloids. Angela grows a spine, and she is much more likable and empathetic in book two.
My favorite line from the book-- "...and then we went stale like a carton of milk." I appreciate the analogy, and I'm guessing the author has a wry sense of humor.
Another good novella from a new author, and that new author, A.M. Willard, is one to keep an eye on. I'm looking forward to the last book in the trilogy: Forever Night.
Forever Night is the final installment of A.M. Willard's One Night series.
As the title implies, there is a HEA ending to this lovely and completely enjoyable contemporary romance. Forever Night picks up exactly where One More Night left off. There are a couple wrenches thrown into Logan's and Angela's romantic works, but those plot twists make the story more interesting.
The primary and secondary characters are well developed, and while I didn't like all the characters, they added depth to the plot and the main characters' development.
This series is Ms. Willard's first foray in writing, and she has done a fabulous job with the serial novella offerings. I'm looking forward to her spin-off story about Angela's best friend, Tabitha.
