Annaliese Plowright wrote her debut novel, The One, during a traumatic period in her life. Arwan and Brooks' story is one that took me half the book to figure out what was different in their lives and in her coming to be in this place. It had a mystical quality that I couldn't put together. I almost gave up figuring out all the twists and turns but hung in to finish. I wonder if the saga will continue as this is the first time I've read this author's work.

Took me forever it seemed to get into the thick of things, mainly because the story line didn`t seem to flow smoothly. The reader gets caught up in dreams, that doesn't make a lick of sense to the heroine. It was good, in parts when, towards the end, the story because it became more clear.

I generally love the mystical mixed with contemporary love story, but this one left me hanging for something more.

A stylish and creatively written novel. As paranormal novels go, The One is undoubtedly the most enjoyable I have read, and deserves to be on the best seller list. The author is an extremely talented writer, as well as a very accomplished storyteller. The romance together with the paranormal weaved a magic that had me gripped from page to page. I am looking forward to reading the sequel, which I am sure will be as excellent as the first book in the series. Hopefully there are even more books in the series for me to read.

This was probably one of the oddest books I had ever read?!?!

It took me a while to get in to but the last couple of chapters had me hooked. I had never read anything like this before and was a little apprehensive about purchasing it but decided to bite the bullet and give it a shot...and my verdict...I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't completely my cuppa char but it was an enjoyable read. I tend to go for HUMAN romance novels so this was something a bit different as the two main characters, Arwan and Brooke, were from 'another world' (although Brooke doesn't know this until the end of the story). I have to admit, at times I was a little confused about what was going but I cottoned on towards the end :)

I liked the fact that the book was left open so there is potential for a follow on. And although this book did baffle me at times, I would defiantly be intrigued to continue the story.

If you're into the whole supernatural, other world, warrior god, love stories, then I would defiantly recommend this book to you!

I could not put this down! It is fast paced and had me gripped from the first chapter. Well written, a fantastic storyline with surprising twists, great characters and the setting is described beautifully.

Despite her past, Brook is a strong character yet she has her vulnerabilities; the situations she puts herself in, her past and her developing feelings for Arwen. He comes across as brusque and secretive, but underneath he is all 'man'. Their journey(s) were captivating.

I can't recommend reading this highly enough and eagerly await the next instalment. In the meantime I think I shall read again...

Some fantasy novels you will read once maybe twice and they will just sit on a shelf to gather dust, but i assure you this one you can read over and over and NEVER get bored! So no dust there! It captures you from the first few pages and from then on you feel you are included in the story.
It's also a book any ages could read! So pass it around, give it to your Gran, Mum, Auntie, anyone! I promise you they will all fall in love too..
Bring on the second book and any other novels published by this author :)

Love these kind of other-world stories and this is a refreshing new take on it... I love the way all the way through you really can't begin to "read" how it's going to turn out and even who the real hero is going to be. It keeps you guessing all the way to the end. With fully fleshed out characters and a really strong lead you really care what happens to the folk in this strangle little scottish village, especially the heroine who I could really relate to. Will look out for more from this author - she writes really well.
