One Shot One Kill: One Shot One Kill Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 632 ratings

They are the lone wolves of the battlefield. Tracking the enemy, lying in wait for the target to appear—then they shoot to kill. Armed with an unerring eye, infinite patience and a mastery of camouflage, combat snipers stalk the enemy with only one goal...

In World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and Beirut, American snipers honed the art of delivering a single deadly shot from nowhere—and devastating enemy morale. They met the enemy on his own turf, picking off officers, unwary soldiers, and even other snipers from extraordinary distances of up to 1 ½ miles. Now, these uncommon men tell their stories: of the emotions felt when a man's face came into their crosshairs and they pulled the trigger, of the nerve-wracking hours and days of waiting, motionless, for the enemy, of the primal savagery of a sniper duel.

Often trained haphazardly in wartime, and forgotten in times of peace, combat snipers were officially recognized after the Vietnam War, when the Marine Corps became the first military branch to start a full-time sniper school.
One Shot-One Kill is their powerful record of desperate trials and proud victories.

Having read Carlos Hathcock’s story I was already familiar with a lot of what was written. I did enjoy revisiting the stories though and would recommend the book. i wish the author would have included Jack Hinson in the book he was an amazing guerrilla sniper on the Confederate side of the civil war. Fighting in revenge for what was done to his family.

The book was a good read, covering the beginnings of snipers up to modern day deployment and useage.

The content of the book could have been organized and presented in a better format, as it jumps around from sniper thoery to actual accounts from snipers. The information serves as a good historical account of the theories and development of sniper tactics, but lacks much content on the modern-day version of the sniper in the modern military.

If you want to read about different sniper accounts from wars such as WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Beirut
this book is for you. This is an excellent book which describes a snipers mission in detail. If you are a former
military man you'll be able to put yourself in the snipers position. You will be right there experienceing
what the sniper is doing. They were all proud to serve their country and give their life if necessary
so we can enjoy the freedomn we have today. Semper Fidelis!

I felt this was a real good book that shows the history of the sniper and the evolution of this group. A lot of good stories about different snipers and the "jobs" they did. Though the book was interesting it did seem a little repetitive towards the end of. If you have read any other books about snipers then you will find some of the same stories in this book.

Great stories of some great snipers that covered all the years of war. Vietnam was especially interesting, when there were really no rules of engagement. All in all, a good read!

This book was recommended to me by a marksman. It is a brief account of snipers during combat, their training, the ethics by which they follow and the patience needed fot their task. Most people cannot imagine what they had to endure and the danger they placed themselves in. True stories of real life experiences.
