Sophie Claire is chasing her dreams in Nashville as a singer/songwriter. Even before her Highschool graduation she was decided to leave Martinville and to leave everything behind. She thought everything will be alright in her new life in a new place but she was kicked out by her roommate and being broke leave her no choice but to go back to her old town. Being back in her old place will bring back some memories, especially when she see again her first true love... her bestfriend Jake Cooper.
This is a refreshing story especially after reading a tearjerking novel. I love how Molli written Claire's POV and her feelings about what she thought an unrequited love. Although there are slow parts in the book, Claire and Jake's love story makes me want to continue and finish the story.
“I’ve loved every version of you, but I’m happiest now, here, with this version. I love you. I’m in love with you.”
One part that I also love in this book is how Claire will discover the road to take and to know what she really wants. This is really an example of an NA novel, the the battle and transition to adulthood is really hard and confusing, and this book was able to show the feeling.
“I feel like I’m two versions of myself: the one who lived here before, and the one who lived there. I think I’m more lost than I realized, S."
There are slow parts in the book that I think should have been shortened or replaced. But hey, maybe that is part of the experience... to experience as well the feeling of Claire's ups and downs.
Overall, this book is a great light read if you want to take a rest first on heavy stuffs. I thank Molli for this novel and I was able to witness Claire's start of adulthood and most of all her and Jake's love story.
It's a comforting read. Fake relationships that turn into real ones are always fun.
