From Library Journal
Although this is not the only astrology book that your library will ever need, it is still a valuable title that should be strongly considered. Woolfolk, the horoscope columnist for Marie Claire and Redbook magazines, has updated her classic guide for the first time in 19 years. Thoroughly covered here are sun signs, moon signs, planets, and the significance of the 12 zodiacal houses, as well as the most recent discoveries in astronomy and 21st-century projections. The author gives an easy, logical way to integrate the interpretations of the sun signs, moon signs, planets, and houses in any given chart, something not easily done or often seen in general astrology books. The book's only shortcoming is its lack of instruction on making a detailed technical chart, which is necessary if one is to cast a complete and accurate horoscope. However, Woolfolk compensates for this by teaching a simplified method that is about 90 percent accurate enough to get a beginner started and includes a bibliography for further instruction. Astronomical tables are included to help cast the simplified chart. A great bargain for the price, this is highly recommended for all astrology collections. However, with the turning of 2015, perhaps getting a little older (hopefully wiser), I confronted the reality that I have zero capacity, or more specifically, no understanding of its history, theories or mythologies..., so how can I be a critic right?.
With this new insight I decided to inform myself on the subject and chose this book.
As mentioned earlier my opinion has not changed on the subject, however, my 4 star rating is indicative in that the book did provide a thorough and very easy to absorb (not comprehend) education on the subject - so much so that upon completing the book I challenged its effectiveness through discussions and debates with a few astrology 'experts' I know - of whom one even prepared a 100 question Astrology exam for me - and the result was a resounding success - this book, which I read only once and did not refer to for the exam, provided me, a non believer and wanna be critic, with a solid understating on the subject. If you already believe, you should buy this book as you will enjoy it. And if you don't care for it or like I new nothing about it, buy this book and become informed!
