One of the things that I REALLY liked was that (unlike many short stories) the author anticipated questions and scenarios and answered them instead of leaving the reader to point out flaws or guess at possible answers. For example questions like " well how do you recognize friends and neighbors?", "what happens if the body you are in dies?", " can you figure out where your own body is?", "what happens to the poor confused pets?", " how could you even try to catch murderers and rapists if they change bodies everyday?","what about pregnant women who give birth?",and "what happens to the babies born?" are all anticipated and answered. The second I started reading the story most of those questions popped up and my mind and I was worried that they would not be addressed at all, leaving me unsatisfied and confused, so I really want to thank the author for basically reading my mind and finding plausible answers!!!
Overall I HIGHLY recommend this short story and would definitly read more from this author (who apparently wrote it for a contest in a writing group he is a part of). In fact I think the author SHOULD make a full length novel set in this strange world he created (not nessecary with the same characters). It would also be a great "world" for fan fiction with endless different scenarios to consider!
One last note: this short story really gave me something to think about when it comes to love and relationships, I can't help but wonder if I would be able to stay together (like the couple in the story) if everyday was a toss-up and we could wake up as the same gender, reverse genders, or somehing awful like I was an 80 year old man and they were 5 year old boy?!? Hmmm that incurs a question that actully wasn't answered (and if the author should write more on this maybe they would answer for me) which is this: what are the legal guidelines regarding sexual relationships between adults and children considering that the person in the kids body could be older than the person in the adults body??
