From the NYT Bestselling author of THE SEXY ONE comes a romance about fate and second chances...
Let’s say there was this guy. And he gave you the most mind-blowing night of sex in your life. And you never saw him again.
Until ten years later.
Now, it turns out he’s the ONLY ONE in all of Manhattan whose restaurant is available for my charity’s gala.
The trouble is, he doesn’t recognize me.
This woman I’m working with is so damn alluring. The first time I set eyes on her, I’m captivated and I can’t get her out of my mind. Even if it’s risky to tango with someone I’m working with, she’s a risk I’m willing to take.
The trouble is, she won’t give me the time of day.But I'm determined to change that.

One thing I loved was the cute, unconventional meet-cute. Dessert is always the way to go, in this case throw in some caramel, and you're good to go!
Secondly, I appreciated the unabashed, sexual confidence Penny displays. In a world filled with strong feminists, seeing that confidence reflected in literature always catches my eye.
And...I happen to love ink, and our leading couple is covered in it!
Enjoy a Purple Snow Globe cocktail and maybe some bites of caramel on the side, because dessert can be the most entertaining meal of the day!
What a deliciously decadent story about two characters we've met previously and who I was hoping so hard would get stories of their own! And they did! With each other, no less!
Penny runs Little Friends, an animal rescue, and is looking for a new chef to handle the Picnic in The Park fundraiser after her last one pulled out. The person she's meeting as her final choice bears the same name as the man who she feel in love with and then stood her up years ago.
Gabriel has earned himself a few titles: 'the sexiest chef' and a 'heartbreaker in the kitchen' but to name a few. When he meets with Penny, he can't reconcile that it's the same Penny from years ago and when she denies that they've met previously, he decides to leave the past in the past.
While I was somewhat disappointed to realize that this would 'only' be a novella, Blakely gives us such a perfect story, packing all the romance, heat, and banter that are her signature traits, that you forget that it's not a full-length novel and embrace the ride for the gorgeous second-chance story that it is. Gabriel and Penny are fantastic together and the feelings they had between them never really faded in that time and it was wonderful being part of their journey back to each other. Oh and the dirty talk and delayed gratification certainly didn't hurt!
I adored this book and characters and while it is about characters you meet in previous books, it's a part of Blakely's One Love series of dual POV standalones that's been published under the 1001 Dark Nights umbrella. Go on, read this. You won't be disappointed.

In this standalone novella we once again see sexy chef Gabriel and Penny from the animal rescue. They knew each other ten years ago... had a magical time together... thought it meant something — and then nothing. Penny never heard from him again. And now, here she is face to face with the guy who destroyed her. And wouldn't you know, she needs him. No, not THAT kind of NEED! But needs him to pull off the charity gala for her animal rescue! Doesn't it just figure? The one person you want to duck and cover and run and hide from is the one person you need to stand there and face. And not only face but actually rely on!
Watching them figure out what kept them apart all those years ago and then rekindle their relationship just warmed my heart. This quick read is chock full of sweet and spicy — which makes complete sense since Gabriel is a chef and they both love dessert ;)
I definitely recommend this one!
I received a complimentary copy of The Only One.
This is the story of Penny and Gabriel who had that immediate connection that sometimes happens when traveling and seeing that one person you think is meant for you. It was a trip that was a lot of firsts for both of them and when they parted their plans to meet again were set. Unfortunately, those plans never came to fruition and Penny was left heartbroken.
Fast forward 10 years and these two true soul mates meet again. Are their feelings the same for each other? Can they forgive what happened all those years ago? Do they still have that all consuming passion for each other? Through a lot of memories, some amazing meals and desserts, a case of side characters, including Shortcake, you'll find out how passion can be reignited just when you thought you'd never find "the one!"
Penny and Gabriel first met in their early 20's in Europe. They clicked after 3-days of knowing each other. Penny returned to NY, and Gabriel planned to join her. Plans changed, but they never forgot each other or their connection. Fast forward 10-yrs finds Penny needing a new caterer for an event she's hosting, as her caterer cancelled. She has 4-restaurants to choose from, 3 won't work and the last one is owned by a man named Gabriel. Is it the same Gabriel? An internet search say "yes" it's her Gabriel. Can she see him again without all the pain washing over her since he didn't show 10-yrs ago?
Gabriel meets Penny to discuss the event she hosting. He reminds her of Penelope, the one who got away. Can she be his Penelope?
No Spoilers. The interaction between Penny and Gabriel is beautifully written, and a must READ Novella!
