The Only Plotting Workbook You'll Ever Need: Your Story Arc Journal (Series Bibles for Writers) Paperback – March 9, 2023
Purchase options and add-ons
This fourth (and highly requested!) installment of Series Bibles for Writers contains everything you need to map out the plot to your novel or screenplay. Plan your story through the lens of 10 different plotting methods and see it in real time in the worksheets, timelines, calendars, and scene maps provided. Think of this as your plot journal, to brainstorm and store all of your plotting information, and to refer back to as you're writing to keep every plot thread, goal, conflict, timeline, scene, and climax accounted for.
Contents include:
- Worksheets for 10 different well-loved plotting methods.
- Blank timeline charts for keeping track of character timelines & plot threads.
- Calendar sheets to plot your story in real timeline (5 yearly, 15 monthly, and 20 weekly sheets)
- 55 scene worksheets, to flesh out killer scenes and make sure they serve a purpose to your arc.
- And a custom contents page to easily find your info when you need it.
(All sections and methods are padded with a scratch note buffer page, so if you decide to rip out any pages that are unnecessary to your story, you won't be ripping out vital information on the back side as well.)
This workbook is prompted enough to guide your plot into a satisfying arc, yet free-form enough to handle whatever direction your story needs to go. Use this before you write to build direction. Use this during your writing to keep on track, and to craft scenes ahead of time to cut out dreaded writer's block. And when you're finished, use this workbook during the editing process to audit your plot & scenes, so the final product is a story you can be incredibly proud of.

About the author

Though writing novels is her go-to creative outlet, life stays busy with motherhood to her three minions, various music endeavors, church service, and home renovating. She lives in her dear home state of Arizona with her incredible husband and three kids, and only sometimes wishes they were back in their college home of Hawai'i--the place that inspired her first series.
Her dream job, (besides writing novels from a hammock in the forest) would be movie score composing. She's a total fan girl for Hans Zimmer and Martin Phipps.
Feel free to hunt her down for loads of book extras on her website (tmholladay.com), Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook (The Candeon Heirs), and Instagram!

Not all of us are ‘word only’ writers, many of us are visual. This workbook gives plenty of template examples of the different outlining systems as well as novel and character development worksheets. It helps you keepi track of plot, character development, mind map options as well as storyboard layouts.
I intend on using this workbook for my next novel project. They’re genetic enough to custom your own layout. Glad I bought this book. Taking it to my writing group…
I did like the character pages, but the more one builds a character, the faster the form becomes confining and inadequate. People are complicated .. even fake ones.
I won't put a mark in this book, but may use a few ideas. A worthy effort for folks that learned the 7-point plotting method, but didn't help me much.
Good points to consider and follow through on.

And the amount of spelling errors is astounding...
There is hardly any information about making plots for books the filled with templates.
That there would be some Templates, yes,
But the whole book and hardly any information. So disappointed.
