Only You starts off HOT. Nate and Emme are a hilarious breath of fresh air. Their distinct personalities win you over immediately. Where Emme is full of life—wild with emotion, a dreamer, optimistic—Nate is the opposite. He lives a “surface level” kind of life. He NEVER involves his emotions in anything. He thrives on control. These two are polar opposites, yet they’ve developed an amazing friendship over the last 3 years. A divorce attorney (Nate) and a wedding planner (Emme), they live across the hall from each other. They have two completely different outlooks on love and that shows when an unexpected surprise (in the form of a baby) lands on Nate’s doorstep. And gracious me, I loved that so much! I ate up each page of this romance. Watching Nate and Emme’s relationship grow was fun and sweet and sexy and so good.
Between laughing at how charming these two are together and wanting to swoon forever as Nate transforms from this closed off, jaded playboy into a open, caring man, I was in book heaven. Every moment spent with these characters was an ultimate pleasure. I had belly flutters, little electric sparks zapping me as I read. There’s such beauty in this love story, such decadent sweetness in the friendship to lovers romance that transforms Nate and Emme.
On top of all that, we get to see Coco and Nick and Mia and Lucas from the Frenched series. Hooray! As a MEGA fan of those books I was delighted to see those characters again. Emme is Mia’s cousin, and partners with Coco at Devine Events. Getting to see them all together made me happy. And I must say, if you haven’t read the Frenched Series (what the heck? You should do that), reading this first shouldn’t hurt your reading experience at all!
Overall, Only You felt like a treat. A big, delicious romantic treat for the heart! I can’t stop swooning! I’m absolutely smitten with every little detail that makes up this story! Melanie did an amazing job and I think this is her best book to date (which is saying a lot because I’ve read and loved most of them)! To say I recommend it would be an understatement! You should absolutely read it! I think it’s one the best books of the year!
Emme and Nate are friends who didn't realize how much they needed each other until life threw them together day after day.
Emme's awesome, a successful woman with a bit of a clumsy side. She's relied on Nate since they've been neighbors. When an unexpected surprise shows up on Nate's doorstep, it's his turn to rely on her...
Nate is wonderful. Hot Alpha, definitely. Witty, generous, and vulnerable too...I loved the moment he found out he had a daughter.
Their friendship grew out of respect and lighthearted teasing, but that hasn't stopped Nate from fantasizing about Emme and vice-versa. Neither know the attraction is mutual.
Their journey through friendship, love and life is breathtakingly beautiful. The tearful, emotional feelings that Melanie Harlow writes so well fill the pages of this story. Do yourself a favor--don't pass this book by. There aren't enough stars for this one.
I loved the character of Emme. She was flawed in a way that most women can identify with and that made her more real. She's strong and smart but longs to find the love of her life and is constantly disappointed and hurt by the men she chooses to date. Nate is the playboy who suddenly finds himself in a situation he never saw coming. Unexpectedly thrown into fatherhood, this perennial bachelor struggles to find his way as a parent. As Nate transformed from sexy alpha into a tender, loving father, my heart melted. I loved seeing him brought to his knees by this adorable little angel. There's nothing quite like a father and his daughter! Emme and Noah have tons of chemistry and I enjoyed watching their relationship grow. They sizzled both in and out of the bedroom and their back and forth banter was truly entertaining. Harlow provides comic relief throughout the book to balance out the more serious parts of the story.
Only You is the type of book that you pick up and don't want to put back down. With Harlow as the author, you know you're getting a well written and well developed story that will suck you in and cycle you through the gamut of emotions. It's witty, fun, swoony, beautiful and everything in between. 5 stars for Only You!

Emme Devine is an attractive wedding planner and a friend who lives in the apartment across the corridor from Nate. The last time she needed his help was when she nearly set her place on fire, after burning a wedding invitation from her ex. If anything, she loves easily and gets hurt just as easily.
One calamitous night a baby is left outside Nate's door. A note in with the baby by says he is the dad. Well he faints and Emme comes to the rescue of both for him and the baby girl. Then when Nate takes on the challenge of looking after the baby for a month and shows his caring side, Emme sees him in a positive light. But what happens after two weeks? Does a relationship develops between them? Where is the baby's mother?
Make time to read this book by Melanie Harlow. You will learn a lot about the issues the two main characters face and how close family help or their progress towards a fulfilled life.
Nate's life is turned upside down when a baby daughter he never he had literally shows up on his doorstep. He's forced to make drastic changes quickly, and Emme guides him through the frantic early days.
Feelings develop between them, and what follows is a tumultuous attempt at a relationship - she's trying hard not to push for more, and he's trying to come to terms with the fact that he might be falling in love.
The characters are written very well; the way their relationship is described feels very genuine and heartfelt. I read the whole book in a day; I just couldn't put it down. The book draws you in, throws it's arm around you and lets you devour it. I loved it and can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Calamity Jane / Emme & Nate's story is one of humour, connection, growing / wising up / attraction and honesty and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Really well written book and Nate and Emme are perfect. So sweet and hot.
The things I liked:
1. Overall, a fun, light and easy read.
2. Dialogue and banter.
3. The attraction between the two MCs was luscious.
4. Emme was likable and a baby is always sweet.
The things I didn't like so much:
1. There were a lot of characters - are they to feature in future book? They took the focus away from the plot and the flow was interrupted.
2. I found it difficult to invest emotionally with the narrative as it came across as shallow at times (although some scenes were warm and cute) and the MCs lacked depth. Nate was harder to connect with, except for a few scenes, e.g. his memories about his brother.
3. My impression on downloading the book was romance/drama, but it was more of a romp, and that's fine, if that's what I'm expecting.
4. The inner voice reflections and ponderings were a little OTT and dull (e.g. Nate's first one went on for a long time and referred to things I doubt guys really care about, like decor).
'Only You' wasn't a winner for me. I acknowledge that other reviewers loved the book, so this is just my opinion. I will definitely download another MH in the future as I've liked/loved her previous work.
This really is a story of change, how Nate and Emme see each other and their perceptions of how their lives should unfold, particularly Nate and how events in his younger years have effected him.
And reading Nates's interactions with little Paisley....awww. And he totally fainted!!!
