“Foster’s latest is a steamy yet touching romance with plenty of affectionate, amusing moments that will engage readers from the start. Her modern storytelling is filled with heartfelt scenes steeped in emotion. Genuine, relatable characters, including a lovable little boy and a rambunctious dog, all set within a quaint small town make for an appealing read. Super-sexy, tough, thoughtful alpha hero Bodhi mixes well with the strong, nurturing, tenderhearted heroine Bridgette, and their blazing chemistry heats up the pages. Fans of Foster will not be disappointed.” —RT Book Reviews

Ok, so there's Bodhi, *sigh* (yes! another one!) and then there's Bridgette with her little man, Louie, who, by the way, is quite possibly THE most adorable little boy. Ever. But see, there can't be a Bodhi and Bridgette because gruff-man Bodhi doesn't DO relationships and Bridgette isn't looking to get her heart broken again. So they have their "here and now". And holy hotness with a tablespoon of sugar, it's definitely hot. No, it's not easy with a curious little boy but they make it work. Until they don't. It's about that time that your heart gets shredded, tears start falling, and juuuuuust when you think "ok, I've got this, *sniffle", I can do this, *sob*," your heart breaks a little more. But, you'll be happy to know that Melissa is ALL about the HEA and does not disappoint in that area. AT ALL!! Sure, you'll go though the ringer to get there, but hello? That is exactly what makes a 5+⭐ story!! There won't be another story greater than this one. *sigh*
Bodhi Booker is renovating a home for his mom who's moving to Sugar Lake in the very near future. Her new home is next door to young widow Bridgette Dalton and her cute little boy, Louie.
Reading along while Bodhi and Bridgette fight their intense attraction had me reminiscing all those old awkward moments when I first met my husband; being tongue tied, caught staring, blushing at inappropriate times....
I completely understood their stance on not wanting to have a relationship. Bodhi isn't going to be in town long and with his job he doesn't want to risk putting someone through what he and his mom experienced when his father passed. Having already experienced loss it's not a journey that Bridgette wants to open herself up to plus she now has to think of Louie.
I absolutely love the moments that Bodhi is showing/teaching Louie how to do things around the house. Being a male role model for him. It just made my heart melt.
The secondary characters in this book add a lot of humor that for me, made me connect more with the story. Made it more realistic.
This was a wonderful fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Bodhi is trying his hardest to keep his life simple so when he doesnt come home from a missions, like his dad, he wont destroy anyone else's life. What he doesnt count on is a single mom and her adorable, out-of-the-mouth-of-babes, energetic little boy.
Bridgette isnt looking for love. She's been there, done that, and has the scars to prove it. But maybe she is ready for something. She wants the feel of a man again but doesnt want her son to hurt like she has hurt.
They both agree to live in the here-and-now and when it is time for Bodhi to go back to his life and missions, they'd be ok. What neither of them counted on was falling head-over-heels in love with each other...and practically pulling their hearts out when they have to end it.
After nearly not making it back alive on his last mission, Bodhi knows that his place is with Bridgette and Louie.
Bodhi....now there's a hottie, he's not smooth and silky like Zane is in The Real Thing, but he did melt my heart every time he though about or asked about Louie. Its rough for a single parent to find love again because they need to make sure it's the best situation for their child, not only did Bodhi fit the mold for a perfect male influence on Louie but he truly cared about the kid which was wonderful to see.
Bodhi was very much into the Here and Now when it came to relationships....well actually he didn't do relationships because he never wanted to leave behind someone if he was killed on a mission, but since he wanted to explore things with his sexy neighbor he only promised her Here and Now and made sure Bridgette understood there was no future for them when he returned to the city after completing the renovations on the home he purchased for his mother.
Although I received an Advanced Readers Copy of Only for You I did purchase the ebook through Amazon along with the Audible version as well and I have to say I am so very glad I did. The narrator of the book John Lane has a sexy tone to his voice that I loved, if you enjoy audio books I would recommend you purchasing this one I do not think you will be disappointed at all.

A 'wild child' in her youth, she has now become a hard-working, responsible mum, and hasn't even thought about having a man in her life...until Bodhi Booker walks into her sisters bakery.
The instant attraction between them confuses them both. Bridgette doesn't want to fall in love again as her heart couldn't stand another loss, plus she has her son to consider. Bodhi is only in town for a couple of weeks, and with his job situation, never gets involved in relationships.
Whereas the first Sugar Lake book, The Right Thing, had a lot of humour, this book is a much deeper, emotional read. There are light-hearted moments, and I did laugh through my tears a couple of times, but I found this quite heart-wrenching to read. Not only was Bridgette opening her heart up to possible heartache, but her son was getting attached to both Bodhi and his dog.
If you love small town reads, with strong family and community connections, humour, and deep emotional issues that rip your heart out, stomp on it and then put it back just before you flatline...this book has it all.
(Don't forget the tissues).
Towards the end of the previous (Sugar Lake Book) Bridgette and Bodhi briefly met but when they realise they are neighbors this only intensifies their already instant attraction.
We already know all to well what happened to Bridgette, how she lost her husband so soon after getting married and their son Louie only just a few months old... we know that for five years it’s just been Bridgette and Louie, she’s been happy with that dispite her sisters trying to persuade to step out of her comfort zone. Bridgette has not been interested.... until Bodhi Booker that is!
Bodhi try’s to fight his attraction initially, he’s a special operative and can be called away at a moments notice and has always managed to hold off having any type of serious relationship... he doesn’t do them... until Bridgette!
However what starts as just our here and now becomes so much more add Louie into the fold and honestly this story is so touching, full of too endearing moments to count.
Bridgette and Bodhi’s relationship is so perfect, they are perfect together in every way but there’s this big cloud hanging over them. Time is running out and all you can do is wonder what path Bodhi will eventually choose.... what is store for Bodhi if he gets called up for another mission.
I might be smiling now but Only for a You gets incredibly emotional towards the end so be prepared.!
Thank you Melissa Foster... looking forward to more from (Sugar Lake)
I automatically took to Bridgette in the Sugar Lake series as she is a woman who had once thrown caution to the wind to live out her 'happily ever after' with a musician, only to find herself return home widowed and a single Mum to her adorable little boy Louis.
After years of focusing all her love, energy and grief into raising her son and creating a livelihood for herself, it is time for Bridgette to dip her toe into the pool of romance. She is instantly intrigued by Bhodi Booker, something about him captivating her thoughts and awakening her senses.
Bhodi Booker is in a Special Ops team, landing in Sweetwater to renovate a property for his mother to move into whilst waiting to return to duty. It was all supposed to be straightforward until Bridgette Dalton turns out to be his neighbor.
Bhodi is determined not to allow himself to fall for Bridgette beyond a few weeks of the summer, laying out the rules whilst being her knight in shining armor. Both of them skirt around each other with undeniable chemistry, both of them unsure and afraid to confess the feelings that they are developing naturally for one another.
Bhodi is good with her son, respectful and willing to be there the good bits and the bad, he is protective loyal and above all honest. Bridgette is sweet, but she has a side that is crying out to be released and Bhodi is the man to unlock her.
The book was entertaining, sweet and I was completely captivated by their relationship. I love how Bhodi is respectful of Bridgette's previous relationship and is easily enamored by her son. He appears to be very alpha male but on the side, he is a romance-loving softie which worked nicely against Bridgette's determined side.
I adored learning more about the characters of Sweetwater and the small festivals that they partake in and I love immersing myself in their world. Everything is well written and captivating and I can't wait to read more books in the Sugar Lake series.
I recommend to all romance lovers or someone who is looking to get stuck into a well-written series of books.
Bodhi is only in town to fix up the house for his mother to move in then he is back to the city, that coupled with his dangerous job of being a special ops rescuer puts him in the mindset of not looking for a long term relationship, but in true Melissa style that is until he meets Bridgette and falls for her hard and fast.
They are both so intense and the fire was lit long before they even kissed, that just happened to fuel the fire even more
This was one hot but sweet read at the same time, how Bodhi is with her son will melt your heart. Being a single mother is hard but Melissa captured the family dynamics and worries of Bridgette perfectly
One thing that blew me away was the spectacular use of a piece of music within the preliminary action. Being in UK and over a certain age, it was so tantalising that I used YouTube to see how it fitted into the 'scene' ______"River" by Bishop Brigg was the one major catalyst in understanding the suppressed passion felt between Bridge & her man. Just WOW !!!
I loved this book & would advise anyone to read ANY of Ms Foster's work !
