Limited two CD edition including a bonus CD containing extra tracks. 2012 studio album from the Space Rock legends. Recorded at Earth Studios, the eagerly awaited follow-up to Blood of the Earth encapsulates the band in full creative flight with a lavish collection of new music featuring sound tracks for internet warfare, mantras for self-realization and electrical systems checks. The album seeks to unravel ancient mysteries brought to life with stories of distant past. 2 CD Bookcase Ed. 42 Years after their self-titled debut, how is Hawkwind doing? Very well I think.

4 System Check
5 Death Trap
6 Southern Cross
7 The Prophecy
8 Electric Tears
9 The Drive By
CD2
10 Computer Cowards
11 Howling Moon
12 Right to Decide (Bonus)
13 Aerospace Age (Bonus)
14 The Flowering of the Rose (Bonus)
15 Trans Air Trucking
16 Deep Vents
17 Green Finned Demon

CD1 seems to be the core work here and it is an excellent, cohesive space rock journey - basic riffing, with a nice heavy bass line and complementary synthesizers along with electronics laced throughout that blend into quieter interludes. It is a good end-to-end listening experience and it alone would make for a very nice selection live. I find it more engaging than their preceding and respectable release Blood of the Earth, which in turn, I liked better than its predecessor Take Me To Your Leader. I would not say that there is any superior material that has the attraction of some of their earlier gems like most of Doremi Fasol Latido (the core content of the great live Space Ritual) and Hall of the Mountain Grill, but as good a space trip as any since then and it is proving good for repeat listens. I was a bit nervous when I saw a re-work in the core listing (Death Trap) a practice reminiscent of the creatively strained period of the early 80s and some of the 90s, but the new material is solid and all of the material fits well. Death Trap itself was done with an alternating left-right channel source; it worked.

If you are even a slight fan of Hawkwind, you will want this. I personally find it better than the last 2 studio releases. The redo of Green Finned Demon is the best version ever. There is nothing not to like here. My favorites though are the ones with lots of Dave Brock's guitar and vocals, but the entire band is in top form. And the packaging is some of the most unique I have ever seen and it rates up high like the packaging for the original Space Ritual on vinyl. Buy it now!

This is a great new collection of tracks from Hawkwind that runs just slightly longer than the 80 minute capacity of a single disc...so the material is spread over two discs. There are some really great new songs, and there are updates of 4 Hawkwind oldies too, of which two are live versions featuring recently deceased ace keyboard wiz Jason Stuart, and serve as anice tribute to him. Former lead guitarist Huw Lloyd Langton makes an appearance on the second track, and his distinctive style is a welcome addition to the track. Dave Brock plays like a fiend all over the album, and has a chance to really shine on some long extended spacey guitar driven instrumentals. Tim Blake's keyboards and sonics are all over the CD, adding the synth like textures that are an essential component of the Hawkwind sound. Mr.Dibs on bass, and Richard Chadwick on drums both contribute fine vocals as well as making for a fine rhythm macine. And Hawkwind founder Dave Brock sings lead on several new tracks, which are all really very nice. At this point its wonderful to have Hawkwind still making new albums in 2012, let alone one with this level of quality. A couple of these are future classics. You'll hear what I mean from the very first track. It could have easily led off a set at the Roundhouse in London in 1972 and been right at home.

Sometimes you have to think that the best is yet to come. This their 25th Studio Album and not a boring moment on it. Pure entertainment from start to finish with constant surprises popping up. It rocks hard but you get so many beautiful melodic contrasts with the acoustic guitars, vocals & synths. The remakes of Death Trap and Green Finned Demon are great in the grand tradition of Hawkwind re-do's..if your a fan of Hawkwind what are you waiting for download this now and rejoice. If your not familiar with the band, start here and go backwards through their studio releases till you get to Hawkwind 1969.

I was wary purchasing this album, as the previous lp Blood of the Earth showed signs of minimal participation by Capt Brock. This time around Brock has receded further to the sideboards leaving new members an enlarged role, and not to the benefit of the album. As mentioned elsewhere, there are only a few decent tunes here, and the strong stamp of Hawkwind's power is generally absent. Even the album art feels generic. Listen before buying, for completists only.

I loved these guys in High School-yes, dating myself, I am so glad they have been making music after all these years and are still going strong. I love that they added a book :) I know I couldn't wait to buy the new releases for both the music and book, they really do go together and are a must for any fan.
Thank you Amazon for making this available. It is so incredably hard to find Import albums anywhere!
Think the kids that listen to indie rock should really consider listening to these guys-one of the first indie rock bands. Keep putting out great music guys!!
