Amazon.com Review

The Cold War is over. And chaos is setting in. The new president of Russia is trying to create a democratic regime. But there are strong elements within the country that are trying to stop him: the ruthless Russian mafia, the right-wing nationalists, and those nefarious forces that will do whatever it takes to return Russia to the days of the Czar.

Op-Center, the newly-founded but highly successful crisis management team, begins a race against the clock and against the hardliners. Their task is made even more difficult by the discovery of a Russian counterpart... but this one's controlled by those same repressive hardliners and represents everything Op-Center stands for. Two rival Op-Centers, virtual mirror images of each other. But if this mirror cracks, it'll be more than seven years of bad luck.... --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

There are multiple plots in fact to write this I had to go back and review the book since it is multi-layered in plots. It takes place in Russia and covers the infiltration of our spies and forces to pull off a plot of Russia's own military trying to take over the Government. The US has basically committed an act of war but there was good reason and they get in and out with being caught. There are several casualty's and a lot of action. This book will hold your interest through-out the whole book.

The protagonists are two commanders of operations centers, US and Russian. Paul Hood and General Orlov. The enemies are Russians of the old stripe aided by international criminals and drug money from Columbia. The job of the US, as it turns out, is to intercept and destroy a train carrying the cash across Siberia, protected by the a squad led by the General's son, while the General fights plots and schemes of members of his own staff. While a somewhat improbable story, Clancy weaves it well. The pages move fast and the reader is drawn into it. On the down side, the action jumps around quite a bit from site to site. There are at least five different sub plots going on, and it takes some mental gymnastics to keep it all together. Clancy himself loses a beat when he 'lets' the American op center surmise the importance of the train shipment ($6 billion in US $100 bills) on a bunch of skimpy lack of evidence. However, this can easily be tossed off to writer's license and it only causes a brief hiccup to a careful reader. The characters are brought together carefully with balance. Character development is not a strong point in the Clancy novels and this one is no expception, but there is enough there to suport the story line! The conclusion is particulary exciting, involving technical wizardy, magnificant skill and courage, and mixing triumph and tragedy. Well recommended.

I have purchased this same item three times prior to your ad. They ran out of this item so I searched on Amazon for a fourth set. I really like this coffee holders and they fit nicely in my cabinets. However the first three purchases were far less expensive.

Please people with the money, if you buy a new book, include a used one in your shopping cart. That will help Amazon enormously in their storage, and it can help you too. At some places the price can’t lower to lesser a penny. Take a used book for a 0.01$ anywhere.
It has many usage including, “Cash4Books.net”
Recycle it or Burn it for survival heat. Use two books as spacers to raise your monitor because it’s always better to view at eye leveled to the center of your screen. Even better, send it to donation, any library would take it, or the third world too.
Do not fear a book because it has no teeth!!
When you open your used book, wear gloves if you have to, then you’ll realize, “This book ain’t that bad after all.”
Good read and peace!!

Loved this book! I had picked up a copy of a book in this series at the airport on a recent trip. I enjoyed that book so much, I decided to read the entire Op Center series. This book did not disappoint and I will be starting the next book in the series soon.

The book is set in what was an all too plausible scenario of the Post Cold War Era. A Coup in Russian driven by an alliance of Military, Political and Criminal elements needs to be stopped. The Striker team is in superb form as they use their training and advanced weaponry to attempt to nip in the bud the forces trying to return Russia to the days of the Soviet Union. There is a gripping ending to look forward to as well as multiple missions go down to the wire in their efforts to protect US and European interests.

The book Tom Clancy's Mirror Image starts out slow but starts to pick up after one of the Op-centers agent is killed in duty. He was investigating the area around Russia's new tv station because of the unique static. The characters are good and the book is full of espionage. There are terrorists attacks with a big objective. Just like the first book Tom Clancy's Op-Center there is a group in Russia trying to start a new world order. In Mirror Image a group trying to start a war between the U.S. and Eastern world countries. This would allow the Mafia to come into power and take over Russia and start up the USSR again. Russian Minister of the Interior Nikolai Dogin is a patriot that is behind the operation and is involved with the Russian Mafia. The Russian Mafia is what Dogin plans to use to create his new world power.
Hood is the main character who runs things at Op-center. Deputy Director Mike Rodgers is always fighting with Hood and wants his chance to run Op-center. The special team that is sent to try and stop Dogin who is part of the attacks like the one that blew up a tunnel in New York. Other characters are Lt. Colonel Charles Squires who is on the striker team and Peggy James is a D-16 operative without these people the book wouldn't have been the same they where a major part in stopping the rise of a new world power. The writing style is very easy to understand and smooth. He doesn't skip around and gives many details when the striker team comes into play like the type of equipment and involves organizations like NATO which is the North Atlantic Treaty organization. This book is action packed, full of betrayal, and suspenseful so if you like even one of these characteristics you should read Tom Clancy's Mirror Image.
