Opening the Energy Gates of Your Body explains the practice of chi gung (qigong), the 3000-year-old self-healing exercise system from China. About the Author

Bruce Frantzis is reputed to be the first Westerner to hold authentic lineages in Taoist energy arts. He studied healing, martial arts and meditation with renowned teachers in Asia for 16 years—including training in China for more than a decade. Since 1987, Frantzis has taught chi gung, martial arts, TAO yoga, TAO meditation, and energetic-healing therapies to over 15,000 students in the United States and Europe. His teaching methods are spread by a growing number of certified instructors that he has trained in the United States and Europe.Frantzis is the author of several widely praised books about the power of chi including: Tai Chi: Health for Life; the chi gung books, Opening the Energy Gates of Your Body and the Dragon and Tiger Medical Chi Gung Instruction Manual; and two volumes on the water method of TAO meditation, Relaxing Into Your Being and The Great Stillness. Best Beginners Book I've Found on Traditional Chinese Qigong - Theory and Application

Best beginners book I've found that covers traditional Chinese Qigong theory and application. Well written and easy to follow. You will need to go to youtube and look for Bruce Frantzis' videos showing how to correctly do the exercises as I didn't feel his diagrams were very helpful. I also recommend looking for a teacher to verify your posture and that you're relaxing correctly.

I've been using Opening the Gates for more than a year now, I practice Standing at the Stake for about 40 minutes then go right into Energy Gates. Talk about getting the chi flowing in my body! I have practiced Quantum Touch energy healing for about 15 years before I started Qigong.I By adding Standing at the Stake along with Energy Gates it was like putting my energy healing on steroids. Anyone practicing energy healing would do well to add Qigong to their tool bag,especially as taught by Bruce Frantzis.

This is a heavy duty qigong book written by a big guy that reminds me a bit of Frazier on the TV show.

I think it took about 85 pages to get going but once it did, there was a lot to profit from. I learned a lot. Obviously, this can be one's life work.

As a guy, I am so ingrained with my old New York attitude that it is easy for me to force things. Yoga and qigong don't respond well to force. So, keep it easy and remember Frantzis' 70% rule

The book gives instruction on exercises that are more progressive and impactful over time. If you are looking for a quick guide, don't bother. This is a reference as well as instruction. I plan to be using this for some time.

This is not just more info to add to your arsenal for empowerment,if you sincerely follow the instructions in this book it could actually help you to grow both mentally and physically.We are given stationary exercises that allow us to engage our entire being.The benefits are immeasurable for anyone wishing to develop self discipline and a spirituality that can be applied to a number of arts.This book really deserve more than five stars.

Get yourself a master not this book!

There is a constant reminder to get yourself a taoist master so you can do it correctly. So what then is the point of this book. A lot of words wasted on something that could be explained in half the time. As the saying goes a picture is worth a thousand words, so it might have been better on a DVD tutorial.
