Amazon.com Review

When five brilliant but wacky kids get dragged to a deserted island by their scientist parents, they decide to do what any self-respecting kid geniuses would do under the circumstances: beat the adults at their own game. The only problem is, before the gang can discover whether Artificial Intelligence is an impossible dream of the solution to mankind's problems, they'll have to save themselves from a horrifying death trap -- and the entire island from destruction at the hands of a mad bomber.

Fun reading for older kids, and written before the Unabomber became a cause celebre.

I got into Bruce Coville back when I was in late elementary school, back around the time that these books had first come out, and as I look back nostalgically after years of growing up and surviving college as an English major, I give these books credit for being my first true literary obsession.

There are so many various characters to identify with, an fascinating mystery and plot that grips you the whole way through, and as a child, this book fed to my endless imagination and made me realize just how exciting and amazing of a place books and writing can be.

Although the A.I. Gang was my personal favorite of Bruce Coville's as a child, I give credit to him and all his books for making me want to become a writer. I recommend this book to anyone who has an imagination and cannot stand the thought of being restricted by what the immediate world offers.

This book is one of the best of all time (and I am old enough to know)! I've read it over and over again, bringing my copy to shreads and disrepair after much tape had been used. Unlike many people, Ray Gammond and sometimes Rachel, were always my favorite characters.

Besides the fact that the kids are all brilliant (more like genuses), brave, and true, a deserted island isn't exactly anyones idea of fun. But these kids pull together and make it "the experience of a life time", and even get to save their parents from "the black glove" of doom!!!

It's a book for people of all ages, who just need a break from the ordinary world. (as well as the 2 sequels: AI Gang Robot Trouble and AI Gang Forever Begins Tomorrow).

I LOVED this book. I've reread it millions of times. Bruce Coville has these genius children explore the abstract ideas of intelligence and existence. Each child is talented and shows kids can do ANYTHING! It makes computer science interesting, fun, and creative while including mystery galore. So read this book and meet Ray, Trip, Wendy, Roger and Rachel as they attempt to create an Artificial Intelligence of their own.
