The first female special ops team is formed and they are trained and ready. Something goes wrong and many innocent women and children are murdered and the Zulu team is blamed. The team breaks up and are scattered over the world with new identifications. Now five years later someone wants them destroyed. Their new identification and locations are no longer able to keep them safe.
Ronie Kendig introduces each Zulu special ops and from page one to the end of this first part of Zulu you will get to know them well. Though they have a bond through Zulu they live different lives with a guarded look around them at all times.
I have not named these remarkable women because reading about them will bring them alive to you along with the Special Forces men who trained them. Ronie Kendig once again has opened up with drama, intrigue, military, love and finding God in the midst of a dangerous turmoil of life that we can only taste through her magical words.
We are introduced to multiple characters, but most notably the six women of Operation Zulu. All have their own cloudy past serving in the military, but have gone on to reinvent themselves as civilians, changing their names and making little to no mention of their histories. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, these soldiers are pulled back into service. This is generally not a welcome event from the point of view of the servicewomen, as they had worked for years to establish new identities, find new loves and move on.
As this is only (in theory) 20% of the novel, The Beginning is a short taste of things to come, and its task is to introduce characters and the general concepts. So while there are exciting moments (particularly when the ladies are forced to leave their new lives), there is a sense that we are in the opening scenes of a movie, getting to know the major players. In order for us to be invested in these individuals and care about what happens to them later in the series, we have to delve into not only their pasts a bit, but also their present day. Ronie Kendig does this well, showing us how these women are smart and tough, but they have soft hearts too. By the conclusion of this episode, I was eager to jump into the next title, Collateral Damage.
Originally released once a week during the summer of 2014, all five parts are now available for download as ebooks. This opening episode, "The Beginning" is available for free, so you can get started at no cost. And if you prefer the standard print version for all five portions, Series 1 will be available with all five episodes (480 pages) in December.
Ronie Kendig has done it again! Her serialization, Operation Zulu Redemption, is one wild ride after another. In this free introduction to the serialization, you will meet some of the key players of Operation Zulu (or OZ for short).
Ronie doesn't even let you catch your breath before you're out the door and part of the wild ride the OZ team is facing. As each character is introduced, a new twist of the plot unfolds until you're completely wrapped up in it.
I won't say much more than that at this point since Overkill introduces the series and I don't want to give anything away.
