I bought the Manfrotto for $32 and this one for $8 to see if there was a difference and to have a backup. They look almost exactly alike but the Manfrotto is accurate and the Opteka is not. I would say the Opteka is off by .5 inch per foot! Check your sample. Place on flat surface, check reading, then rotate the level 180 degrees. Any difference shows inacurracy. Both Opteka bubbles are off, the Manfrotto is almost perfect. I gave two stars because the Opteka should dtill be more accurate Than your eyeball. Not sure if it is worth keeping for backup.

I lost my much more expensive Manfrotto bubble level because it never fit very snug. Finally it fell off somewhere without me noticing. Times being a bit tough financially, I thought I'd give this a try. To my surprise, it is IDENTICAL to the Manfrotto it's replacing. I know it looks similar on Amazon, but I expected a cheaper build quality or something. Instead this fits the hot-shoe of my camera snug (perfectly snug) and works great. Why pay more???

I was worried reading that this was not accurate. I checked it against a high quality level. It was dead on in both directions.
Fits the shoe of my canon very well tight but not too tight. For the money cant go wrong.

I've used this level in the past and found it to be compact, lightweight and (barely) adequate for quick, casual use. It was kinda-sorta accurate (certainly better than the eyeball method) and it fit into my camera pack more easily than the 6" carpenter's level I used to lug around for panorama photography.

I've stopped using this item because the new Canon 7D I purchased in June has an electronic level built into the Info menu screen which is much more accurate and easier to use. Of course the 7D body costs $1,492.00 more than the Opteka, so you get what you pay for i guess...

This review is for the Opteka Hot Shoe Two Axis Double Bubble Spirit Level for Digital and Film Cameras. This is a perfect little accessory that I was looking for to level my camera when shooting panoramas. My Nikon D300 does not the electronic bubble level as found in the D3, so I had to rely to a device like this to help. Needless to say, for the price, this is awesome. Fits my D300 hot shoe perfectly and it is a snug fit. The device does not move at all no matter what position the camera is in. Also, this looks and feels like the corresponding Manfrotto bubble level, but costs less than half! I would recommend to anyone who plans to shoot panoramas or wants to do a little video using their D-SLR.

This was to replace my lost Manfrotto ($38.), for use on my Canon elan7. This Opteka was too tight to fit into my hot shoe. I gently wedged it part way in, but when I tried to remove it, the plastic base broke off. My strongest criticism of this thing concerns it's accuracy in use; the very small bubble does not stay in place. It is far too sensitive, ie., it reacts to the slightest movement and kept on jiggling around. When you're on site and have a time element to contend with, this problem is a major pain.

I have not found that this is off as much as people are claiming it to be... in fact i have two of these on my tripod... one that is build INTO the tripod and came with the pod and this one that i bought... they both read pretty much the same reading... i have not had any issues with it and used it a ton in my Europe photos and videos recently.

I used to use a flat round level on my hotshoe but it got lost all the time and I finally couldn't find it so I bought one of these. It fits snugly and has 2 coldshoe attachments: one like in the picture shows that only goes one way for regular shooting and another that stands the level upright and can be turned for shooting downwards or for shooting sideways. On my camera it disables the on-camera flash(a blessing in my opinion) but turns on my AE. Pretty sure I won't be losing this since it's the size of a Lego; And that leads me to the only downside I've found so far and that it looks obnoxiously big.
